I've been noticing a lot of websites like this one popping up. Where are they getting all this from, sometimes even your phone number is on there. I'm not sure where websites like this are getting there info from.
What I don't understand is that the FL BON doesn't post my private info on the actual BON website but this third party service does. I don't care if you give people my name, license #, and practice address - that's public info. But to post my home address and personal number is outrageous and (I feel) violates my privacy. I'm not in a DV situation but there are several patients and people who I would not want to have that number or my home address.
This is outrageous. My state lists the town, license number, and status of the license for the general public, but it doesn't appear that there's a website like the one from the OP that lists private home address and phone numbers. This is a lawsuit and horrible tragedy waiting to happen.
We've had a patient on my unit with family that was so out of control the cops actually had to go out to their house (calling and harassing staff and making threats). I shudder to think what could possibly have happened if that person had the private numbers and addresses of the nursing staff.
I know PA sells the names etc.... My nursing license is the ONLY thing that has my name listed the way it is (first, maiden, last) and shortly after I got my license in 1987, I started getting all kinds of stuff in the mail with the same name... the only way they could have gotten it was from the licensing folks.....
OP:This is a huge problem and going on for years especially with the emergence of the internet.
What the miscreants used to do and still do, and there was a post on this lately, is when a nurse male or female passes away the deceased significant other will assume their identity and it's business as usual.
Possibly other "allnurses" posters can speak to this issue with greater expertise as I believe there is a lingering suspicion that the "fail-safes we all believe exist maybe do not.
Ugh, scary. I am not a fan of easy Internet info access. It is very easy for someone to look up your address if you own property.
Going on a tangent here: back in the day when AOL was popular, I posted my marathon race number in my profile. My then bf (now husband ) , who was an active police officer at the time warned against it because any yahoo can look up your name and city based on that number. It blows my mind seeing now how much personal info people put out there voluntarily (including race numbers ) its nuts.
It is also insanely hard to get everything about yourself deleted. This is exactly why I don't do social media.
Buyer beware, BSN
