So ladies (men too) what was the GPA cut off for your school's nursing program? Or, what was your GPA when you were accepted?

So ladies (men too) what was the GPA cut off for your school's nursing program? Or, what was your GPA when you were accepted?

This is the pre-nursing student forum, most of us here are still working on prerequs and haven't applied or been accepted to nursing school yet. But I was told that you need to have at least a 3.5 to be competitive and have an A in A&P, C's don't cut it and repeat courses won't cut it either.

No set GPA...have to have a 2.75 for all pre-requirements to be "considered"...this is a competitive application process....SPJC in FL

Our school goes by a point system. My GPA when accepted was 3.0 cut-off. I had 3.9

The nursing school I am trying to get into goes on a point scale for different categories. To really be competitive you need to get the maximum points for gpa which requires you to have a gpa between 3.8 and 4.0.

The ABSN program I'm applying to wants a minimum 3.0 which includes pre-reqs and all undergraduate work.

Like several others have said, my school goes on a point system; however, since the points you receive are based on the grades you receive in the pre-reqs, it makes sense that the higher the GPA the more points you will have earned. I am waiting for my acceptance letter (because darn it I just know I have to get in ;) ) and my GPA is 4.0. This means I have all the points available from my classes. Then they make us take the TEAS and whatever our percentage is on that = a raw points score, ie. 88% = 88 pts. They add it all up and take the top 45 scores.

Hope that helps :)

My school accepted only 4.0's for the spring semester. The last two semesters the lowest accepted was 3.77.

The minimum is 2.5, but it all depends on what the GPA's are of the people who apply for each semester. There isn't a waiting list.

I had a 3.77 when I applied for Spring '06. Obviously, I didn't get in. I retook my Algebra (B to A) and now I'm applying for Fall '06 with a 4.0.

I have all of my pre-reqs complete, as well as all of the non-nursing support courses completed with a 4.0 on those classes as well.

If I don't get in with a 4.0/4.0, it's not meant to be. I would probably just get a generic degree & help my husband with his biz.

My school requires a minimum 3.0 GPA, and I was told that as long as you have that and at least a 20 on the ACT, you get in.

I suppose if they got more applicants than they had spaces for, the higher the GPA and ACT, the better. But at this point, since this is a newer program, they have been adding teachers and more spaces for students.

The average accepted GPA for last years seats was 3.4 cummulative and a 3.4 science. Mine are a 3.4 cummulative and I have a 3.8 science GPA.

one of the school that im gonna be applying to requires that you have at least 3.0's in each science class and at least 2.0's in non science and from what i understand that the advisor told me is that the committee will not see the grades that you recieved, they only base it off of you recommendations and personal statment.

you need to have 3.5 science and 3.5 gen gpa to have a shot, but realistically you need at least 3.7 to be "safe" i had 3.8 and got accepted (points system) a couple months ago. I start in the spring.
