Let's talk GPA

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

So ladies (men too) what was the GPA cut off for your school's nursing program? Or, what was your GPA when you were accepted?

At my school you have to have a 2.0 in order to apply to the program. They choose the top 15 in district & the top 15 out of district students who score the highest on the NLN test to be accepted. Here someone with a 2.0 could get in & someone with a 4.0 wouldn't. It all depends on your NLN test score.

At my school min is 2.5. I was told last semester the average was 2.8.

However, between the Micro and A&P you need 1 b or better in at least one of those.

The school looks at your pre reqs and then your regular schedule.

I would hope a "C" in Differentual Equasions 240 would be given more credit than an "A" in Pre Algebra 098.

i don't know what the requirement to get in is... but we're almost done, and the ones that are left are the ones that had a 4.0 going in...

My school requires 2.75 with no waiting list.

My GPA was 3.7

my school accepted only 100 students out of a pool of a 1100. so the ratio was 11 students : 1 spot.

Once you're in the Nursing program at my school, you have to maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, but you need certain grades in your courses. For A&P you need a C+, for Biochem you need a C I think, etc.

To be accepted into the Nursing program from a different major or as a transfer student, it's very competitive here so I think you need a 3.5 overall GPA and B+ or higher in one science course you've already taken here.

One BSN program here has had a cutoff of 3.9. The other has had a cutoff of 3.8. Both require health-care volunteer experience, too. One requires recommendations from two professors, as well.

Basically with the GPA cutoffs, for these two programs, in two years of full-time pre-reqs, you can get a B in one lone class. The rest must all be As. I truly, truly hate the BSN wars.

WOW, you all have to have some super scores. I had a 3.2 and a 26 ACT but the cutoff was much lower. forty five applied this fall and forty five got in. sadly, four have allready dropped and i'd say from looking at the class test averages, more are still to drop before midterm. its a tough one

oh, and all grades have to be a t least a c. anything less that a 76 is failing
