  1. I finished my pre-reqs last semester and was signed up for A&P 1 and 2 this summer with plans of applying for the ADN program in July. I've been dreading A&P's and quite frankly dreading the nursing program. I've realized that I'm just really not that interested in one-on-one healthcare. I suppose the $ and job availability pulled me in, but I know myself and I know that even if I made it through NS I'd be unhappy being a nurse. That's not fair to me or the patients. All along I've known that I want to work with children (I own a daycare now) so I've decided to major in Admin. of Justice. None of my pre-reqs are wasted (except computer literacy, but I needed it anyway ) and I will graduate with my AS in May 07. Next fall I'll start my BA program in ADJU. It meets 1 night a week for 18 months. I hope to work in Child Protective Services or the Juvenile court system. Anyway, I just wanted to touch base with the friends I've made here & wish everyone happiness & good luck :)
  2. Intermediate Algebra ~ A (1st 8 wks) College Algebra ~ A (2nd 8 wks) National & State Gov't ~ A Intro Chemistry ~ B
  3. A&P1 in A session A&P2 in B session Each session is 4 weeks and classes meet M-Th 1-5pm.
  4. I'm wanting to get into oncology, so I'm happy with my results 1.) dermatology 2.) med oncology 3.) gastroenterology
  5. My Intro to Chem final is 5/16. We had our last exam Thursday, have 2 more classes (new material!) and then the final. Our instructor is great though. He lets us use a 3x5 index card for a "cheat sheet" for the exams and is going to let us have 4 index cards or a 8.5x11 piece of paper (front & back) for the final. I'm going with the piece of paper! Good luck everyone :)
  6. My college does too. My lit. instructor said that it was an automatic F for the semester if the program detected plagarism and she verified it.
  7. At my school there is no wait list. You keep reapplying. They have a day (starts in spring) & evening (starts in fall) program. You have to have pre-req's and a 2.0 GPA to apply, but after that acceptance is totally based on NLN scores. I'm applying in July for the evening program that'll start in Spring 07 and if I don't get in I'll apply in Feb. for the day program that'll start in Fall 07. If I'm still not in I'll either look into the LPN program more or change my major and get a BA in Administration of Justice. I'm done with pre-reqs and next fall I'll be taking classes for my BA (hopefully for nursing), but they're the same classes (arts, foreign language, economics) that I'll need for a BA in AofJ.
  8. I'm the opposite. I'm in College Algebra with an A and have made A's in all math courses leading up to this point. I'm also taking Intro to Chemistry this semester and am trying to hold onto a B (84%). The conversions are just not clicking with me . So I can't say that algebra has helped me. I understand that you put what you want to get rid of on the bottom of the equation so it will cancel out, but when you throw in moles, grams, mass, etc. I get confused.
  9. I'll be taking my NLN test the end of July and was planning on taking A&P 1 + 2 this summer. They're co-req's so I can apply in July without having taken them, but that means if I get in I'll have them along with my nursing courses. I've been looking over my NLN study guide and I'm ok with the math, but I REALLY need to study the science section and try to complete the reading comprehension section quicker. I could- a.) Take the summer off to study b.) Take both classes & squeeze in NLN study time with A&Ps c.) Take A&P 1 and have July off to study What would you do? BTW, I have a 4 year old son, but I'm not working outside the home.
  10. I'm taking both A&P 1 & 2 this summer too. Should be a fun 8 weeks Most summer classes are broken up into A & B sessions. I'm taking A&P 1 in A session (June) and 2 in B session (July).
  11. No special purchases here. I'm going to enjoy the feeling of being able to save more $ after paying bills.
  12. At my small town school they test twice a year (1 day program & 1 evening). Acceptance into the nursing program is all based on your NLN score. The day program for this fall had their NLN test this past weekend and there were 104 people that tested. They choose 15 of the top in-district scores & 15 out of district scores to be in the program. I was thinking the odds (15/104) aren't that great, but when you consider out of the 104 who knows how many are out of district applicants and I'm not competing against them. So what are the odds at your school?
  13. Thanks for the responses :) I'm still debating it. I wouldn't be taking them together (impossible to do anyway). I would only have one class at a time to focus on and I don't work outside the home (I'm a SAHM of a 4 yr old). I take my NLN test in July and thought that knowing some A&P would be to my advantage before testing. On the other hand, if I take the summer off I could study more for the NLN test. Registration is a month away, so I'll ponder it some more. Thanks!
  14. I'm 31, from southeast MO and am a SAHM of a 3 yr old. I'm finishing up my pre-reqs in order to apply this summer for the spring 07 ADN program. I started college fresh out of HS, did horribly, & now that I have my head on straight (a family will do that too ya ), I'm back at it.
  15. Our summer schedule just came out and they offer A&P 1 M-Th from 1-5pm during the A session (6/1-6/28) and A&P 2 (same hours) in the B session (6/29-7/31). Has anyone taken both A&P's during the summer? I could also take my Micro during the B session (9-12:30), but I think that would be pushing it! :chuckle It's tempting though since it's all I have left to take.
