A&P Summer 06'
I have the anatomy and physiology coloring book by marie b. She is the author of our book we use and I purchased the book from my school bookstore. Now I can say I paid for a 40 dollar coloring book.

Well, it looks like I am going to get my BSN instead of ADN after all.
I was originally going to go for my bachelors later but after transfering schools and half of my classes not transferring if I just go to school one more semester longer than I had intended I will have my bachelors. The classes that won't transfer for my ADN will count towards my BSN. So I said why not it's just one more semester. So, instead of me going to Frederick Community College it looks like I will be in the University of Maryland's program in Shady Grove. If you have been in their program how was it? What kind of uniforms do they have to wear? It works out really well for me though so I can just go ahead and get it done. It's only one more semester. I didn't even know there was a shady grove program I was so happy to hear that b/c I didn't want to drive to Baltimore.

ABC.com nurse's blog
I would like to add 2 things. 1. Most of the nurses on the show are real life nurses. 2. The nurses also went on strike during the show, and the hospital obviously didn't run as "smooth" without them. There is also a whole episode dedicated to why you shouldn't tick the nurses off. Here are some clips from the show involving the nurses. This one is the best one! You have to watch both! http://www.greys-media.com/videos/episodes/seasontwo/207x2.zip http://www.greys-media.com/videos/episodes/seasontwo/207x10.zip More... http://www.greys-media.com/videos/episodes/seasontwo/214x13.zip http://66.49.225.172/ga/videos/episodes/seasontwo/215x16.zip

ABC.com nurse's blog
I saw a really big thread recently about a nurse that was dating a doctor, and MANY people said it was no big deal. Hospitals are no different than other work places they too have gossip. But everything that you explained is why Nursing isn't a reality show. No one cares about all the important stuff that nurses do and it's sad. I would like to watch a nurse reality show. But then again, no reality show is really a reality show either. You would have to watch the show to understand that the nurses aren't seen often in the show except for treating patients. In fact they TELL the interns what to do when there isn't an attending (anyone remember when Izzie had to crack a chest and she didn't know how all the attendings and residents were on the tumor surgery, the nurse walked her through the whole thing). There are 3 blogs, a nurse blog, a bartender blog, and a writers blog. They are people you don't see in the show but they can write about things that you missed. Like maybe a kiss or someone talking about someone etc. It's really to fill us in on what they couldn't fit into 1 hour of tv.

It is Trauma Life in the ER haha. I hear a lot of people complain that grey's anatomy is not medically acurate too. Once again all I have to say is it's a show! Watch Trauma if you want to know what it is really like. I watch just about every medical show possible except MASH and General Hospital fictional and non fictional. The reason she was talking about the scrabble board is b/c one of the interns who is becoming "too close" with a patient was playing scrabble with him while she was working... You really have to watch the show and listen to the writer before you can bash it b/c they aren't trying to offend nurses. Oh and the show comes on sunday nights at 10:00 EST. This epi is supposed to be awesome!

Olivia was the nurse with the STD. She is the only nurse with somewhat of a story line. And if you watched the show you would know Alex (a doctor) gave her the STD and then she didn't show symptoms and later gave it to George. There was a staff meeting b/c the STD was going around the whole hospital. (and that is where we find out that Der and Mer are monogomous!) There are tons of nurse Media movies maybe you should start a petition with the spice channel. Why do you hate that men fantasize about nurses lol. You are also mixing up two episodes. Alex was the one that called Mer a nurse. He was completely wrong about a diagnoses and the nurse was smarter than him and called him on it. Then he dealt with it like he deals with everything, anger. He said I hate nurses. Then another doctor said you are wrong (taking sides with the nurse). He called her a nurse knowing that she was a doctor (she had her lab coat on and they are both in the intern program). Then she said did you just call me a nurse. and he said if the white cap fits. He also failed his medical boards later. Then many episodes later Christina said to Alex you are the pig that called Mer a nurse I hate you on principle. (her friend hates him so she hates him too)

For the eyes of the "older" pre-nursing students only!
The only person I don't recognize in that Greys Anatomy video is the blonde. Is she one of the characters off of MASH. I never watched that. I have a locket that plays the love story theme. Land of the lost was one of my favorite shows when I was little. My favorite chartoon was my little pony.

I'm a huge greys fan and they don't project nurses as Media objects. in fact most nurses on the show don't even have a story line they are just there to take care of the patients. I wish they would give the nurses roles in the show but I don't think they ever will. It would just tick people like you off if they did that anyway. The show is a drama and it's about the interns/residents/attendings. So of course she is going to talk about "the show" in her blog. The nurse's blog tells us things they see. And like I said it is a fictional drama.

Healthy nurses make job easier
I agree that anyone in a healthcare position should strive to be in good shape. Everyone has their temptations and it can be hard. It's not just big people either. I used to work in the air force as a computer operator and for detail I was a fitness monitor. In the military you have to pass a physical exam once a year and if you fail they put you on a strict diet and exercise regimen. I also did body fat tapings for the people who were on the "fat man's diet" as it was called. I have seen big people that couldn't pass, and big people that could. What was worse was when a thin woman would come in and she would "look" healthy, but as soon as we went to the physical exam she wouldn't even be able to pick up her own body weight. Not even 1 push up or sit up. It wasn't just one girl either. It was mainly a problem with women though. It was really sad I always felt bad for them. I say no matter your size you need to be in shape. I also agree that not being in shape can lead to injuries. Flexibility is improtant to prevent injuries too.

For the eyes of the "older" pre-nursing students only!
I was talking to someone about aliens the other day and I jokingly said Nanu nanu earthling and started laughing, that is when I noticed I was the only one laughing haha! No one knew what I was talking about. I think the worst was one day I was singing Crazy by patsy cline and someone said what is that you are singing I said patsy cline and they said who... Oh dear.

bottle vs breast feeding
I did both for the first month. I had no problem with breastfeeding and then I pumped. After the first month I went back to school and my mom helped with the bottle feeding. I didn't pump as often as I should have and I dried up. I think you can do it if you just be sure to pump when you formula feed so you don't dry up.
