So I was reading the thread on the new Clinical Nurse leader role, and thought...LOL, new name for something already done at my hospital...and I got to thinking...lets have some fun and make new titles for ourselves! LOL!
For me...I do many floor work, so can I title myself as "progressive technical RN" or "Registered Direct Patient Nurse".... Or like my hubby calls me..."registered technical BM monitor" LOL!!!!!! (he is a paramedic, and loves to razz me, till the paycheck comes in...LOL!).
Lets have fun!

RN= Registered Nuicense
LOL, I was told it was Real Nurse...LOL. A home health nurse came to check on a pt of ours in ALF, and an LPN was doing a treatment for a decube for that pt. The nurse loudly and rudely said "you aren't RN! I want a Real Nurse"....so the patient thought RN was 'Real Nurse' from that day on!
RN: recal negotiator, radical nurturer....LOL

This just in: the AACN is working on developing a new role: Degree Oriented Professional Engagement Nurse. The DOPE nurse will be a masters prepared nurse and will coordinate care from the bedside. They will interact will all levels of the multi-disciplinary team and finally show that doctors and the public will love us and treat us to piles of respect now that we all have sufficient education.
