Lets play with titles!

Published

So I was reading the thread on the new Clinical Nurse leader role, and thought...LOL, new name for something already done at my hospital...and I got to thinking...lets have some fun and make new titles for ourselves! LOL!

For me...I do many floor work, so can I title myself as "progressive technical RN" or "Registered Direct Patient Nurse".... Or like my hubby calls me..."registered technical BM monitor" LOL!!!!!! (he is a paramedic, and loves to razz me, till the paycheck comes in...LOL!).

Lets have fun!

Hey you stole my title!

This just in: the AACN is working on developing a new role: Degree Oriented Professional Engagement Nurse. The DOPE nurse will be a masters prepared nurse and will coordinate care from the bedside. They will interact will all levels of the multi-disciplinary team and finally show that doctors and the public will love us and treat us to piles of respect now that we all have sufficient education.

~faith,

Timothy.

snicker, snicker,:D :D hee, hee, hee.

Yes, yes!! I'm certified in that!:yelclap: :yelclap:

I was just thinking how funny it would be to put some of those 'certification' initials on a resume - then when they question us, give them a snooty frown.

We were told to use the "title" SRN (student registered nurse) on med sheets during clinicals but we should probably be writing AAW (apprentice a** wiper).

I've just gone back to bedside nursing after years in management, so I'm a Reconstituted Nurse. Or maybe Resurrected Nurse.

Or maybe just certifiable.

Specializes in orthopaedics.

rnc- registered nasties cleaner;)

Specializes in Happily semi-retired; excited for the whole whammy.

This is actually a real title that just sounds ridiculous to me; when I delivered my son, the hospital called their PCTs ''nurse extenders''. It sounded like ''hamburger helper'' to me, lol...

As the memory of suctioning the papery, sticky throat glue from an elderly patient comes to mind, I find myself think of being....an Oral Explorer :)

ROFL....I have an image of sticking a PCT onto the "end" of a nurse so that she fits around the required circumference!! Kinda like a necklace extender, or a belt extender....LOL!

NEW! IMPROVED! Just what you needed, an extension for that short but beloved nurse you just CAN'T throw away! :)

LOL... your description is so much better than mine, and you've completely nailed the concept I have everytime I think of that term!
