So I was reading the thread on the new Clinical Nurse leader role, and thought...LOL, new name for something already done at my hospital...and I got to thinking...lets have some fun and make new titles for ourselves! LOL!
For me...I do many floor work, so can I title myself as "progressive technical RN" or "Registered Direct Patient Nurse".... Or like my hubby calls me..."registered technical BM monitor" LOL!!!!!! (he is a paramedic, and loves to razz me, till the paycheck comes in...LOL!).
Lets have fun!
This just in: the AACN is working on developing a new role: Degree Oriented Professional Engagement Nurse. The DOPE nurse will be a masters prepared nurse and will coordinate care from the bedside. They will interact will all levels of the multi-disciplinary team and finally show that doctors and the public will love us and treat us to piles of respect now that we all have sufficient education.~faith,
Timothy.
snicker, snicker, :D hee, hee, hee.
This is actually a real title that just sounds ridiculous to me; when I delivered my son, the hospital called their PCTs ''nurse extenders''....
ROFL....I have an image of sticking a PCT onto the "end" of a nurse so that she fits around the required circumference!! Kinda like a necklace extender, or a belt extender....LOL!
NEW! IMPROVED! Just what you needed, an extension for that short but beloved nurse you just CAN'T throw away! :)

LOL... your description is so much better than mine, and you've completely nailed the concept I have everytime I think of that term!
