hi everyone! i'm holli. i took boards on june 13th and passed with 75 questions. i am starting work on july 18th at the only hospital i ever wanted to work for. it is a great pediatric facility! i will be on the (post-op) surgical floor, and we also have all of the endocrine kids. also, they just added an epilepsy monitoring unit, for overnight monitoring and for the brain mapping they are doing. i expressed an interest in that, so they will cross-train me in that unit as well. i can't wait to get started!
so, tell me about you...
holli, rn
Hello fellow newbies! I passed my RN boards on July 10th and will be working at the small rural hospital I have been employed at as a CNA for the last 10 years. I have worked as an LPN for the last 9 mos. We are a small facility but we do everything! I work ER, med/tele floor, Special Care, Post surgical and OB, all in the same night. I have had a month on orientation and start on my own tonight. It is quite intimidating because I just realized the responsibility now lies on my shoulders! Wow, it is a bit overwhelming.....thank goodness the other RN on with me is experienced. I am scheduled to take my ACLS, TNCC and PALS in the next few months. I already have my NRP and STABLE (we deliver slightly over 100 babies a year). As I stated before, we do everything and I hope I can remember all I have learned when I need it! Sometimes, because I have been in the facility for so many years, people forget I have only been an RN for a few weeks! They are always happy to help but they forget I am a newbie...Lots of pressure! Wish me luck tonight!

:typingHi, :loveya:My name is Lookingbeyond, and I am a brand spankin' new nurse. Although I have worked as a CNA in the nursing home, Home health Aid work, and for the last 3 years worked in the hospital as a CNA and Unit Clerk, I am now an LPN in a Nursing home where I choose to be right now. Having all the experience in those other "healthcare" roles, is good, but I tell you what, being a nurse is a whole NEW experience...I am ready for the challenge tonight because of the people I have met tonight on this site, :heartbeatand the words I have read on this site. Thank you for being here. You all are amazing!
Hi everyone, my name is Jen. I graduated in December and passed my board in April. I am currently working in the ICU in Georgia. Nursing is definately different form what I expected. But I have only been working since June 16th. Hope it gets better.... so far I am a bit overwhelmed. I need to learn alot. It took me many many patients before I got my first IV started. There is another new nurse that works with me and she got it on her first try
This is my second career change/ third degree and I am not even 30 yet!!!! I hope I won't be changing again :smackingf

Maybe someone would let you practice on them. You should be able to do it in your sleep for your pt's sake. Just do it over and over and over till you get and it won't bother you.
You will be fine.

Hey everyone.. i'm Brittany, i'm a long-time reader of the boards but a brand new poster! I just passed the NCLEX on July 17th with 75 questions! Hardest part of jnursing to date! I will be starting my job on August 18th in a large teaching hospital on a Pediatric (mostly surgical) floor. I am really excited because peds is my first choice. I am happy to be a part of a teaching hospital because they have a great orientation program.
My previous experience is minimal. Other than clinicals I have worked as a Unit Coordinator in a small ER for two years and also did a summer nursing internship there. Looking forward to chatting with everyone and sharing our experiences! :)

Well 2 weeks into work and I feel somewhat comfortable (as much as a new grad can be). I am loving my preceptor and the other girls I am with. Great people, average (I men great) pts, etc.
