Tips for my first week as an RN
greetings everyone! my name is serena and i just recently passed my boards! i am finally able to leave the nclex forum and enter this one. i start my new job as a registered nurse on a stroke unit on monday. i have two days of classes and then twelve weeks of orientation with a preceptor. i am pretty nervous and scared. for one, i am nervous as to who my preceptor will be and if she/ he will be cool. since i graduated back in may and haven't stepped in a hospital for months, i am scared i will forget the proper technique for various skills. i'm scared the shift work is going to leave me exhausted. i am scared of making mistakes even though i am confident that's the best way to learn (as long as no one gets hurt). anyways, i am excited to be here and get to know all of the other new nurses. i am sure i'll be on here often venting and trying to help others. -- serena, new rn

Kaplan for 2nd attempt?
Take Kaplan, you won't regret it. I bombed my first time and then I took Kaplan the second time around and passed with 75 questions! I am a firm believer in Kaplan's program. Best wishes

Let the praises go up ~ I PASSED!!! [2nd time]
Hi there, I did the review in classroom and online but found all of the online material the most helpful. The qbank and question trainers are essential! Hope this helps. .. Kaplan worked WONDERS for me :)

Let the praises go up ~ I PASSED!!! [2nd time]
hi everyone!! my name is serena and i am finally a registered nurse!! i feel like i've been waiting forever to say that. haha i took the nclex-rn a week ago and it shut off after 75 questions. this was my second attempt. the first time i tested back in august, it shut off after 76 and i, obviously, bombed it. the first time i only used saunders 4th edition and i basically procrastinated until the last two weeks. bad idea. the second time around, i tried kaplan since all of my friends were successful who used it. i did all 7 questions trainers, and about 40% of the qbank. the questions were difficult on kaplan .. so much so that after i left the nclex my second try, i was sure i failed because the questions seemed so easy. ha, easy. yea right. first and foremost, thank you god and thank you jesus! thank you allnurses.com for all of the support. it really helped me get through my first failure and motivated me to try again. i will continue to pray for those who are waiting for results and those who are preparing to tackle the beast!! remember, you can do it!!!

Took the NCLEX-RN OCt17 Friday;;;
Eosaeni... I am having the SAME problem! What state do you live in? I live in Delaware, took the test exactly a week ago also, and my board of nursing said that the pearson vue "system" is down and that it's a widespread problem for states that don't have quick results. My state usually posts scores within two days and I am STILL waiting. My BON has no idea what is going on and can't tell me when they will know anything? My job is on the line ... I am getting pretty angry now!!

Here's a well, funny, story.
Thanks for the advice but, unfortunately, Delaware isn't one of the many states that has 'quick results'. I can only find out through my board of nursing.

That's exactly how I felt. I was shocked when it shut off at 75. My initial reaction was to panic because I was sure I failed and bombed it so badly. I took mine last Thursday and am still waiting for my results. I'll keep you in my prayers!

Here's a well, funny, story.
Hi everyone! My name is Serena and I am trying not to go insane. I took the nclex-rn for the second time on Thursday October 16th and am still waiting for some results. I live in the small wonder called Delaware where results are usually posted within 2-3 days. So yesterday would have been the day I would have known. Nothing. I called my BON and this nice man told me this crap lie that the "nclex land" people only send Delaware the scores every Thursday. haha Nice try so that I wouldn't call back until Thursday. However, I wasn't so convinced. I called back today and got the same gentleman. This time I was agrressive and told him kindly that my job is on the line right now and I need my score. He read me this e-mail that they were forwarded from Pearson Vue explaining that the system is currently down and it's a widespread problem they are working on and other states are also being affected. What?!? So... has anyone heard of such a thing? Does pearson do this often? Is anyone else in another state having the same problem right now? Please continue to pray for me. I am trying my best to keep the faith throughout the bumps in the road. This whole situation just seems crazy to me? Who knows?!

Hi Suzanne... just a quick question. If there was an issue with the fingerprinting then who do we call? Pearson or my BON? I live in Delaware and it usually posts on our BON within a few days. DE is not a quick results state either so I cannot find out if I passed through the Pearson web site. Should I call my BON to see what's going on? Thanks so much!
