Hello, everyone applying to Lehman's BSN/ABSN programs for Fall 2018!
I am currently working on my application and will very soon take HESI. I know application period does not start until January 1, but I thought I would create a thread so we could get in touch and support each other on the way to (keeping fingers crossed!) being accepted!
Thanks for this. I'm in the same predicament except my physical expires in the middle of August.I'm thinking about seeing a different doctor.
Did you guys mention it was a physical for college admission?. I had my physical in March this year and when I called the doc, they said I had to do another physical because the school requires some specific things that are not done during the regular. I found it weird, but yes that was their answer.
I'm looking into other schools like LIU. If anyone is interested, the advisor told me that there is no exam (it used to be the teas) required anymore. They are accepting walk-ins on Tuesday and Thursday!
Just FYI LIU is extremely disorganized, have the advisor go over all the requirements 3 times in 3 different days to see if it coincides. I applied there, and met with the advisor he wanted my transcripts from a foreign country and said I needed to take an extra class (which wasnt listed on their website as a requirement), I was very disappointed. And guess what ? End of May I received an acceptance letter from LIU talking about I was also granted a scholarship...
So they approved an "Incompleted" application... interesting
Yea I would suggest that. You can always call your current doctor to get your records and then have a new doctor provide the physical examination. You can even try just doing it at an urgent care center.
Yep, that's definitely what I'm going to try and do. I'm going to try once more with my current physician and if it doesn't work out, I'm going elsewhere. Thank you.

I did! I said that I needed it for nursing school and the guy on the phone said "well, your physical examination is valid until August. You can just use that." I accepted the appointment anyway but I'm going over to my doctor's office today to see if I can get it rescheduled. My insurance allows me to get an appt any time of the year (doesn't have to be 365 days or more after my previous physical exam. it just has to be the next year) so I don't get the whole "you'll have to pay out of pocket" claim comes from.
I have a classmate that called the department not too long ago and they said no more seats available for the accelerated and approximately 20 for generic.
They also told her they received a lot of good applicants so they had to look beyond GPA and Hesi.
However they did it their process is very disorganized, sad to say.

I had a very similar phone experience! I told the guy that this is for nursing school and clinicals and he cut me off and said "I just told you that you can use the other one." He refused to hear me out, kept cutting me off and talking over me every time I tried to explain anything and was all around a complete condescending jerk. I will ask my mom to drop the documents off for me next week since she lives near the doctor and they are closed by the time I get out of work. I have an appointment for the end of July set up anyway (I made it online, not during that phone call) so if my doctor says I need to come in for more tests, it can all be handled on that date.
My last physical was for lehman's phlebotomy certification which did ask for a lot of tests that aren't standard so maybe it will be good enough. I had to get a bunch of booster shots and tests.
Either way I think that guy pulled the info about paying out of pocket out of his butt so we'll see.
Totally agree, and chances are we all made sure the application was more than completed before we submitted it.
But guys, to all of us that were not accepted, lets not forget it doesnt end here!! There are more schools out there!
I would like to hear from the ABSN applicants, what is their backup school? What program will you be going to this Fall?
Good luck to everybody. Be blessed!
I got accepted into College of New Rochelle and that was my backup. I really liked how responsive they were. They seem to have a good program.
I read a lot of bad or mixed reviews about Pace and LIU but nothing too negative about college of New Rochelle. I was accepted to the college of New Rochelle as well.
