Lavender?!

How many of you have grown to love Essential Oils as much as I do?:no:? I just had a student come and ask me if I have any "Lavender'? I knew it was probably some Essential Oil. But, I played dumb, and asked the student what it was. But, that NO I didn't have any, nor would I ever have any. I asked him who sent him to ask...He said the Mrs. SoandSo sent him. He showed me a few small scabbed, burned areas from something that occurred over the weekend when the student was too near the stove when dad was cooking supper.

Sorry buddy... no...never...not ever. :banghead: :banghead:

Now this thread is going in the right direction!! Does it really work to keep mice out? I store my RRRRRRRR VVVVVVVVVV (picture cousin Eddy) near a wooded area and have a heck of a time keeping the mice out; no matter how many traps I put out.

Hubby has a Cousin Eddie RV, too that he keeps in the woods (he sleeps there when he hunts). I'd suggest the Peppermint but you literally can't have anything around that doesn't smell like butt when you hunt.

But let a teacher pray to whatever god they want and the world goes apoplectic. My question, would that teacher tolerate a student doing that interruption during class?

The funny thing is this is a private Christian school so it kinda cracks me up that he gets away with this. He would probably be proud that his little protégés were following his kooky path. I should get my daughter to bust out a yoga pose during advance math.

As for the perfume question, Far, I usually wear a light B&BW lotion (Mandarin Orange or French Lavender & Honey) that I apply under my clothes in the morning. Although I do love the new Ari perfume but I refuse to buy it and support that skanky ho.

Me too . . . wasn't sure at first.

I don't use them but have family and friends who swear they cure illness. I put up a link on FB to poison control warning about essential oils. Boy, did I get lambasted. Ah well, I'm used to it as I do pro-vaccine stuff on my FB all the time.

Spidey's mom- I love this! You and I are definitely on the same page!!

But- As my own home remedy- I have discovered that drinking a can of Coke when I need to burp, works instantly! My family knows that if mom needs a can of Coke to look out!! That's my story and I am sticking to it. I am sure there is a really pretty little brown bottle of some foul smelling Oil that would also work. Just $59.99 for a half ounce...I think I will stick with my Coke :p

I always wear crisp, citrusy smells- mostly orange, but lime and grapefruit and lemon as well.

Every time I take a "perfume quiz" I come out as "sporty" Considering what a klutz I am, I don't get it, but it works with me- sour like my soul.

I hate super sweet stuff like vanilla or heavy musk, yuck.

This male SN bonding is simply adorable.

I know this is a school nursing post. I will butt in anyway.. I work in a nursing home. I was keeping an eye on a patient with dementia who was very agitated and despite her small size was very strong. She was very anxious and the xanax was not touching her. I remembered I had a little lavender lotion in my bag so I put some on her hands and arms and it actually did calm her a little bit.

It could have been the fact that you touched her, and rubbed in some lotion, that calmed her down.

Do you guys wear perfume?

I wear D&G Light Blue. It smells like oranges and is very light.

Nope, don't wear perfume anymore. Someone got me scented lotion from that store in the mall (can't remember the name). It is too strong! I do love the smell of baby lotion though and keep some of that on hand.

We do this but I think it is the massage and attention that calms people, more than the scent itself. Our HHA works wonders with out hospice patients because she insists on bringing her own lotions (not oils) and gives the patients a massage after their bath. I love working with her.

One of my hospice patients has constipation troubles - she keeps a bottle of Coke in the fridge and drinks it to help her have a bm. ;)

I guess my issue isn't with the scents so much - I burn scented candles. I just don't think essential oils CURE disease. :sarcastic:

Wooop-Woooop! Good work mc3!!

The FDA doesn't think it does either. Companies have been warned.

No, but peppermint does help with indigestion syptoms. As does ginger.

I swear by an ice cold Coke for those oogie after wine mornings.

I hear in Colorado the home health workers give out brownies.:sarcastic:

I am cleaning the coffee off my computer! That was a really good one MrNurse(x2). And the little lavender (on topic) eye-rolling smiley guy is the cake topper!! I wonder if the workers taste them first. You know, like we do for our kids to make sure something really tasty is "good' before we give it to them.
