Late on interview.

I had opportunity to have a interview as clinical supervisor in a urgent under hospital. I had my first interview maybe couple weeks ago and it was extensive and 1 hour long. The nurse manager said I should wait a week if I'm going to do the 2nd (interview with the staff) 3rd (supervisor, department heads) and 4th interview (medical director) to them. After 2 days they called me already and schedule me for coming 2nd 3rd and 4th interview to them which he said that he liked me and I'm good int he position.

Day of 2nd interview today, I got LATE FOR 2 minutes??? I called them that I can't find any parking. But before I go inside the office, the manager said sorry and I can't do the interview anymore :(

My question is, should I still go next week for my final interview to them? Or should I consider that I messep up already? :(

I feel so bad I feel like I upset them which is I know they did. Should I still email the manager if I'm still consider to the position? Or I'm technically out for the position?

I would just send a brief email and say "I am sorry for coming two (five or whatever) minutes late. I can assure you this never happened to me before. I understand that you could not interview me today. Please let me know if I should still come to the third round of interviews next week." If you were truly TWO minutes late and called to let them know and she said "no, I can't interview you" I think it's unreasonable. Things happen. Even if you leave yourself some extra time, things still happen. I drove 20 miles to an interview a week or two ago, had to change three highways, was stuck in a few construction areas, was so stressed that I took a wrong highway exit. I called to let them know I was running late and came 10 or 15 minutes late, they still interviewed me and were extremely friendly. I later emailed HR person and said I liked everything about the job but would not be able to do such a long commute...

I had the exact same thing happen to me recently. I left an extra hour early for a 90 min trip and my iphone literally took me to a shack. (I almost took a picture it was so comical.) The interviewer was extremely understanding and told me it had happened to other candidates before. I wish they had mentioned that when scheduling the meeting. They did offer me the position but it wasn't a good fit.

Sorry...this was in response to The Commuter and ovy32. I accidentally hit reply instead of quote.

When I worked staff development if I came out of my office and called your name you weren't hired if you weren't there. An interview is supposed to be your best foot forward. If you show up late, in wrinkled scrubs, with orange hair what will you be like after probation ?

Being 2 mins late for an interview isn't a crime-it happens and it is unfortunate

I would still interview you and it wouldn't affect my decision-what is a problem is the fact you called and they refused to interview you, would you still want to work for somebody who was so inflexible?

I wouldn't

:roflmao: "Gross negligence to my application process"

If your goal is to continue with the interview process, this email doesn't help at all.

I know I really messep up! I email the manager like this

Dear Mr. Manager,

I would like to say that I am truly sorry for being late this morning. It was completely unprofessional of me, and it caused me to lose a potential chance to become part of ABC hospital and cause of disturbance to your schedule. I know that my actions constituted a gross negligence to my application process and affected my opportunity to work with ABC hospital. Please accept my apology for my actions and for the rest of the interview panel as well.

Please let me know by any chance, if I still able to go for next week interview. Thank you for the the time and consideration you gave me I really appreciate it.

Again, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

My name

I was thinking the same thing.

It's no crime to be late. But, if I have 10 applicants for a position, why would I hire the one with poorer time management?

I have an interview next week. The hospital is an hour away, I plan on leaving 30 minutes early that way I can get there, find the hospital, find parking & where I am suppose to go to interview in the hospital. I'm not taking any chances.

Better to leave an hour earlier.

It won't let me quote you @Lev (I'm on the app). I'm trying to decide between leaving 30-1 hour early. I just want to make sure I'm there early.

It's better to be safe than sorry. And if you arrive, you can walk around local stores to calm the nerves. Good luck!!!

Would you please explained how I overtop my email?

An apology is one thing; groveling is another matter.
