Langara Jan 2017

Published

Hey guys! I'm applying for Jan 2017. I was taking "booster" courses in hopes of getting in with old admission requirements. But now that the 2 university transfer courses are eliminated, I'm really worried :( Do you guys think the competition will be more fierce with the new admission requirements? (2 eng, 2 bio, stats) Could someone please share what they're applying with? I don't have any A's and it's very likely I may need to look towards a new career path. Honestly, I think the reason they got rid of the 2 transfer courses is because before people could get in with C+ in biology and stats with the help of A+ in booster courses. Now it's more about having good marks in all the courses that are relevant to the nursing program.

Hey reyy, thanks. And yeah I have applied for Jan intake. English definetly Is a hard class. I struggled as well but just pull through and Goodluck with everything!

Hi everyone! Now that the application deadline has passed, just wondering if anyone would be willing to share what GPA they applied with & if anyone has any information on when offers will be sent out? It's definitely a curiousity what with the new pre-requisites for this intake. I've also read from old posts that it took at least a month for the initial offers to go out last intake. Thank you & good luck to you all! :)

People who get offers don't necessarily accept them. I got in a previous intake off the waitlist

Anyone hear back yet? I'm anxiously waiting for a reply... been applying to schools for a year now. This waiting game is killing me!

What GPA did you apply with if you don't mind me asking? Im not sure if offers have been sent out yet, my friend has a 3.9 GPA and hasn't heard back so I'm basing it off when she gets in since shell probably be the first!

I applied with a GPA of 3.1 with the new change. I was wait listed for the previous intake but then got removed form the wait list. I guess they have a cap of how many students they keep on it. I hope we hear back soon! Have you also applied for this intake?

I'm applying with a GPA of 2.9... 😂 My chances are quite slim, but hopefully the lower GPA cutoff will help!

Does anyone know the recent GPA cutoffs for entry to Langara's BSN? I have a GPA of 3.3 currently and very worried as some people have been saying 3.6 is the safe zone. I have 3 more prerequisites to finish English part two, Human A & P part two and Statistics. I was wondering if I should take all 3? Right now I'm enrolled in English and Statistics in the fall. I haven't enrolled in Human A & P yet because I was considering the workload of having to do research papers, essays, and lab reports closely together in time. Has anyone taken all 3 at the same time? What do you guys think? Let me know your thoughts.

The cut off for the last intake was a 3.8. Theres actually a Langara 2016 thread on here you can read, basically people below 3.8 didnt get in. BUT that was with the old requirements.

And last semester I took A&P 1, English, Stats and Psychology. It was hard for sure BUT it was doable.

Hi guys! I also applied with a 3.1 with the new requirements :D hoping it will be enough to get in! I was waitlisted for the previous intake as well, been playing this waiting game for quite a while now, hoping we hear back from them soon!

I encourage you to take the remaining prerequisites in one semester. When you get into nursing school, you will be taking many difficult courses in one semester so you should learn to be able to handle the workload of English, A&P, and Stats altogether.
