Langara Jan 2017

Published

Hey guys! I'm applying for Jan 2017. I was taking "booster" courses in hopes of getting in with old admission requirements. But now that the 2 university transfer courses are eliminated, I'm really worried :( Do you guys think the competition will be more fierce with the new admission requirements? (2 eng, 2 bio, stats) Could someone please share what they're applying with? I don't have any A's and it's very likely I may need to look towards a new career path. Honestly, I think the reason they got rid of the 2 transfer courses is because before people could get in with C+ in biology and stats with the help of A+ in booster courses. Now it's more about having good marks in all the courses that are relevant to the nursing program.

Hi everyone. I also applied for the January 2017 intake at Langara. Best wishes to all of us! Fingers crossed.

What GPA did you apply for? Best of luck to you!

Hello! Anyone hear back yet from Langara? :nailbiting:

You guys need to relax LOL Offers won't be going out until August. I have many friends who applied for the Jan intake in the previous years and they start giving out offers in august.

The offers went out much earlier than August last year. The first post about accepting an offer was on June 26.

^ i asked the nursing advisor and they said early august.

I spoke to an admissions advisor and was told they would start sending out offers next week/mid-July all the way until the end of July. They said if you don't get an email from them by the end of July, you should contact the nursing admissions advisors.

Good luck everyone!

Hey guys! Was just wondering what your GPAs were heading into the January 2017 intake. Do you think the average will drop significantly in comparison from last intake? (3.6-3.8 :arghh:) Thanks!!

Does everyone already have a degree?

I think it will drop (maybe not SIGNIFICANTLY, not sure) because the school won't be looking at electives. Hope that helped… My GPA isn't so high… it's around 2.8-2.9 ish…Fingers crossed for all of us!

I don't think the average will drop too much. Maybe to a 3.6 (last intake people didn't get in with 3.67). I have a 3.5 and I don't think I will get in, when I asked the advisor if I should retake a course she said it would be beneficial....I don't have a degree but I do have around 60 credits.

I am 6 credits away from graduating at UBC …don't know if they will take this into consideration?
