Who else is taking the NLN this coming monday/tuesday at kingsborough? What are everyone's thoughts of science 25?? Any concerns, comments, questions please feel free to discuss them here. Future applicants feel free to ask any questions, too!

Cant wait until clinicals! Currently have a 3.97 prereq GPA, completed all prereqs except for bio 51. All A's, aside from sci 25 with an A-

Onco is just med surg, similar to 21. Just do what you've been doing and you'll be fine. You'll probably have ****** who I didn't have but is a great teacher. Psych is tricky. Some people do great with it, some people just don't get it. The material is extremely different from a perspective of how you should answer the test questions. A lot of it is how you should communicate with patients with particular psych problems or are acting out in a particular way. I personally excelled in psych 'cause I have experience with it but my buddy bombed that class. The clinicals were a whole different animal as well. I've heard horror stories from Woodhull. CIH, which was my site was pretty great.

Try to take stuff like Patho or Pharma if you haven't already in either the short semesters or alongside the regular nursing classes. If you can, sneak in a computer science class somewhere cause I've found a few RN-BSN programs require one.

edit: Make sure you nail the ATI portion of your grade. Those are like free points. You should be getting at least 7 out of those 10 points and they mean a lot. The whole program changed a lot during the time I was there so not sure if what I can tell you is even applicable anymore. You can't choose your own section anymore, tests were all pencil and paper scantron tests for us, not the tablet stuff they're doing now. How was the pass rate of your 21 class?

I personally know a couple of people that failed 21 and will be repeating not sure how 21 did as a whole. I loved med-surg so I'm glad to hear that 22 will be similar. Yea I heard psych is completely different in its way of testing, luckily I got onco first and psych second so that way I don't have to go back and forth with testing styles. I don't know who the professors are yet but I'm doing night clinicals for both mini's in maimo. I'm hoping I have ****** I heard she's great! Thank you for your reply, best of luck on NCLEX!!

Congrats on you guys for making it so far in the program!! Definitely an inspiration to us newcomers :) Looking very forward to the fundamentals class, going to try our best to survive :)

Thank you! Keep your head in the books and your mind focused, by 2nd semester you'll be back on here giving advice to the newbies =] if you have any questions throughout fundamentals feel free to message me. I'll most likely be volunteering at orientation, maybe I'll get to you meet you and answer some more of your questions there if you have any!

Quick question guys. How much does a scrub set + shoes typically go for?

I think I bought my shoes and 2 pairs of scrubs for around 100.

Do they have specifics for the shoes? Any white clogs are fine? How about white closed crocs?

They have to be leather not material and fully closed around your foot so I doubt they would allow crocs. If you go to ideal uniform they can direct you to what KBCC requires

Do they need to be white?

Is there a nursing group on Facebook for the Fall 14 incoming students?

If not, I will gladly make one;)

Yupp, uniform and shoes need to be white!

Is the outfit and textbooks NEEDED by the first class?
