Kingsborough Fall 2014 Clinical Applicants!

Published

Who else is taking the NLN this coming monday/tuesday at kingsborough? What are everyone's thoughts of science 25?? Any concerns, comments, questions please feel free to discuss them here. Future applicants feel free to ask any questions, too!

Cant wait until clinicals! Currently have a 3.97 prereq GPA, completed all prereqs except for bio 51. All A's, aside from sci 25 with an A-

mnot88, i dont think there is, as far as i know!

Textbook you should have you will need it to do readings when classes start, for my group we had to read a bunch if chps before class even started. You don't want to fall behind on reading! The uniform you wont wear right away .. Your first 2 clinicals are on campus (you'll learn the basics how to properly hand wash, put on PPE, do vital signs, listen to lung sounds, and do a head to toe assessment) so you have some knowledge and will feel more comfortable when you get to actual clinical. Did anyone choose night clinical?

Thank you for the all the help, jess. No sadly, day clinical. Do you happen to know what the hours are? (usually)

Your welcome! I think the clinical hrs are 8-3

So i just got the uniform at the store jess was talking about. About 30 for the whole uniform. And the shoes were about 60. Make sure you mention a student discount.. I got 10% off. I got the small and i feel that is humongous on me. (Im 5'9 and 140lb). An "S" size from any other clothing store fits me really well though. Something to keep in mind lol

I chose night clinicals

The professor who teaches lab for nights is awesome!!!! Your clinical will be from 4-11, when I was in 18 my schedule was Monday nur17/18 12:40-9pm. Tuesday clinical 4-11pm, and Wednesday nur18 1:50-4pm. You'll probably have something similar to that schedule.

So I think I got all my health requirements for nursing, and what a marathon that was! But I am not sure if a serology lab report was included. Has anyone done this yet? I have a Hep B surface lab report and something that says anti-Hbs would that be it? doesnt actually say serology or VDRL on it

@nursingstudentmoe your doctor should go thru the checklist to make sure you have met the requirements

I agree you should bring the check list for your doctor to make sure all the appropriate test have been done. You need blood work (complete blood work and metabolic panel) I had titers done I believe you need to show titers for all previous vaccinations to make sure you are still immuned (ex mmr Hepb varicella ect.) you need urinalysis with drug screen. You need to get the 2 ppd's (tuberculosis test) flu shot, and that's all I can think of off the top of my head! Almost forgot the when the VDRL (which tests for syphillis) also has to be completed!

Hey I have a question, @nursejess do they penalize you if you submit 1 form late... I forgot to submit my employment statues form, do you think they will penalize me?

If don't you work for a hospital in brooklyn, they don't need it. They told me to rip mine up because I'm not an employee of any hospital here in brooklyn
