ok - listen - First this is a second career for me and- Two, Cosmetolgy was my first for many years.
I am so accustomed to the world of beauty as I know it with glamourous hair and well manicured nails and such and I feel like I am always this plain Jane all the time. I just wanna run out and get a nice french manicure, french pedicure and stick my foot in a sexy shoe, not some danskos -you know? I am sick of this dog gone pulled back look and or ponytail. I just feel so un-sexy all the time and it starting to affect my self esteem. Not that any of that makes you, but it has been a part of me for so looooong. You know how it is when you get done up and you get an instant bit of swagger in your walk. I'm having some trouble adjusting sometimes. I don't feel like this most days at all but when I do - boy do I feel it. When off the clock, I'm too tired to even care about sexy. It's so sad, because all I do is find some more unsexy clothes like sweats when off the clock- so I am constantly in a state of unsexy.
So what do you do to preserve your sexy??

I know what you mean...I'm a new grad LPN and in RN school. One thing I don't want to do is get the look of overworked nurse-and it's difficult because we have way too many "role models" of nurses who don't seem to care about health/diet/personal care/appearance.
I make it a point to work out regularly-at least 4 times a week. When I was in LPN school, I found I wasn't making time for this, and started eating too much. I felt to be going downhill personally. So, working out for me is very important-mentally, physically-all.
Another thing, I keep work/school separate from my personal life. It's totally mental. I force my mind to be positive, and I force myself to do things to feel good about myself. Also, care about how you dress when not working. Actually, I notice that even at work, even though most in scrubs-there are those who look "sloppy" and those who look very professional. I'm sure with your background and interest, you can figure out how this is done! For me, I see that wearing more solid colors is helpful here, as well as just how you carry yourself can generally promote a more professional look. It all depends on where you work, I guess.
But, as for "sexy", not appropriate in business setting, anyway, so shouldn't be a concern in any job.

I can't escape it. It just sticks to me. Pity my female co-workers.

I remember as a new grad being jealous of my friend, who is a florist, because she got to work around beautiful things that smelled nice.

Oh darling, sexy coming from insiede out. I will tell you about the most recent beuatiful woman sexy that I seen. Is not young is not sparkling, lool, is not a star and is not a rich one, is just her. A single mother with 5 childs. Who work hard and lived hard and never let her life to beat her. Is a story about beuatifulness. From insiede out. Her Dansko are from Value Village and her scrubs also from there. No makeup. But her face, her hands, her walk her smile, her talk, her style to discuss with you and other, the style that she look at you.... OMG make her so damn sexy, because her soul and heart is sexy and warm.
I am old, I badly could remember what means sexy, loool, in american translation, looooool, but.... I hope that don't ahve any sexual conotation here. For me BEAUTY is a much better term. But I told you I am OLD so is escusable, loool.
Beauty come from inside, now only YOU could choose your terms...looool.
Be yourself and sure you will be and keep beeing a sexy one.
A lot of hugs ma petite, :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

I haven't "lost my sexy" as a nurse; I just reserve it for off days. DH thinks I'm sexy in everything though.

i just don't think anyone's "sexy" is what i need to see in public after a certain age. i'm older, married and not particularly interested in "my sexy" at this point. mostly its staying fit with the occasional use of hot rollers and leg shave i guess. one of the reasons i picked nursing as my second career is because we can wear scrubs.

Years ago I told my young daughter, always wear pretty undies. That way, even if you are doing grungy things, you still feel like a girl. After nursing school and white uniforms(and white undies), I started buying undies in sets. Now even in scrubs for 12 hours, I have pretty undies, just for me, to help me feel like a girl. It is just for me, no one else(at work) will see. It helps me feel just a little sexy. Thats how I try to keep my sexy going.
