The diagnostic is done before you study. A low score means you need to study more. You have over a month, my suggestion would be to do all of tutorials (or get into a live classroom if there is one available), do all of the q bank questions (at least 150 or so a day) all the q trainers, and use another source like Saunders for content review. When you are just a few days away, call Kaplan and ask them to unlock your diagnostic so you can take it again (no charge for this-but you have to call). If you are over 60 by then, take the test with confidence. if you are still low, reschedule it so you have more time to study.
My diagnostic was 55% the first time, 78% after I got it unlocked to retake it and I passed! I had about 6 weeks of studying. It is way too early to be discouraged!

Very sound advice here........
Yea try to score high but don't dwell on the numbers aim for 60%+ and redo if you get lower...I had a 62.8 on my readiness 2 days before I tested and passed. And that was after reading the entire Saunders book. One month is plenty time to pick your scores up, read chapters by focused review content in Saunders or Kaplan's book THEN go answer the questions under Focused Content Review to drill the info in after. I found it helpful in reiterating what I read.
My school switched from HESI to Kaplan and I have done horribly on the two exit Kaplans I have taken. I too am terrified about the NCLEX, which I'll take in Dec/Jan, and the Kaplan diagnostic test as well. I was doing great on the HESI. I don't know why I'm doing so bad on Kaplan though.
I just graduated and I was in the first class that used Kaplan and I also did horrible on the first few exams, but by the end of the program I was doing much better. Kaplan takes practice and it did not all make sense to me until my last semester. Don't freak out about Nclex I took it on Friday the 29th and passed with 75 questions and Kaplan was my main study point. During your last semester a Kaplan rep will come out and host a 4-day Nclex review that will teach you how to use the Kaplan process and this will help you be successful!
I'm so overwhelmed with my diagnostic test score. I did so terrible and I feel very unconfident with taking the nclex rn exam in Oct. I got 48.3%. Need some encouragement from other students who are also feeling this way.I am in a crappy mood
Idk if i can pass now.
You should not beat yourself up or doubt your NCLEX abilities based on the diagnostic test! I did not score as high as my classmates on it and I also failed the Predictor test the first time but I just took my Nclex on the 29th and passed with 75 questions! The Q banks and question trainers are what you need to focus on. I averaged about 58% on them, but I made sure to re-mediate the rationales and I did fine. I graduated on July 31 and started studying from Aug 4-28th and I improved so use the diagnostic as a study point and don't let it discourage you!
i only got a 52 on my diagnostic and a 50 on my readiness test. i was getting 48-52 highest on my qtrainers 1-4 before i started doing any content review
i was discouraged too but don't focus on your score! what matters now is that you realize what areas you need to review. i did content review for each section and then qbank questions and by the end i was getting above 60's on the last 3 qtrainers, which is where kaplan wants you to be at
don't worry about your scores now but how they improve as you do content review and questions
