I am brand new here to allnurses.com and I am very excited to have found you guys! I am currently in school to get my LPN first with full intention to complete my RN shortly after. I am a 28 year old mother of two and work full time third shift as a CNA at a local hospital here in Noorth Carolina. I am finishing up my prereqs now and will be beginning the program in August. I want to work as a LPN while I bridge for the RN. If you have any advice about the best route for this plan (regular college vs excelsior) please let me know.

:) Hello CNA - I am happy you are on your way. I am frankie. I just joined this group about 10 days ago. I enjoy reading and posting. My advice about school would be get an AD degree - nevermind the LPN stuff. Once you are registered, you can go back to school for BSN,MSN, etc...there are so many programs now. Good luck and nice to meet you - frankie

Good for you! There's some old threads about Excelsior you might want to read. Do a search, you'll find them. In the meantime, good luck on your LPN!

Welcome!

First and foremost WELCOME!! Second; The state where I live has an added benefit to their ADRN program. After you finish the first year of your program you can sit for the LPN boards. And continue with your RN program without interruption. You might check and see if any of your programs have this added incentive to go ahead and get the RN.

Bets of luck:)
