Just recieved my third rejection letter

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I just recieved my third rejection letter from my college's Nursing Program! I am so stressed and don't know what to do. I have all my prereques completed, so I can start Nursing classes next semester. Now i'm going to be a year behind in nursing classes and I feel like I will never be accepted to any program. :-( I have B's and B-'s in all my lab sciences so I don't know what the problem is. What really makes me mad is there are people in the program wiht lower grades than me and are retaking classes I already completed with an acceptable grade. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

Be happy and try for something else in the medical field, if I had it to do over I would take MRI tech or radiology.

Meet with a nursing advisor or other school admissions staff and have them look at your transcripts. Ask them what you can do to improve. You may have to retake some classes, volunteer, or look at other nursing program. Try another school. Sometimes you have to commute in order to do what you love.

if this is what you want keep applying, if you choose a related field the general knowledge plus keeping your studying skills honed will help you when you are accepted

good luck

My school gives precedence to students with:

experience in healthcare (CNA works)

all pre classes done

early application date

grades

Also... a lot of people can get right into an LPN program. After that year of classes you can bridge and they are given first dibs at open spots. That is the best way to get in without delay at my school.

Are you sure you really want to be a nurse? If I had to do it all over again I would not have done nursing. Maybe PA or PT? I saw another post suggesting you go to LPN school. Do not waste your time in LPN school! I don't know if you are in a 2 year or 4 year school. If you are in a Community College, go on for the BSN! Take prerequisites toward the BSN programs and apply there. If you are at a four year school, take extra science courses toward a graduate degree. I wish you well.

Are there any other colleges in your area you can apply to. Im sure most pre reqs will transfer. Don't limit yourself to one college only. Good luck.

I would make an appt with the advisor to see what can be done to increase your chances. I would try letters of recommendation (philosphy teachers love them). I would also try other schools. Don't get discouraged and let others deter you. If it is your dream, go for it. Believe me, it is so easy to lose focus but hang in there.

I would definitely look into another college. I am not sure where you are located, but where I am there are a lot of community colleges that are not as picky about how high you score in your sciences as long as you have a C or better. And that may not even be the reason they are not accepting you.

I would not necessarily call an LPN program a waste of time. If you want to be able to work as a nurse after only a year or less instead of a CNA, I think it is worth it. After being an LPN for 3 years, I breezed through my bridge RN program. If you are having trouble getting into a 2 or 4 year program, take it a step at a time and start with your LPN, it is better than continuing to apply and getting turned down!

Good luck in whatever you choose!

How many schools are you applying to? If its just one its not enough, if just two, thats not enough. Apply to every program within a 2 hour radius. Apply to LPN and RN programs (you can always do a bridge program later) I have 9 rejection letters in my file cabinet. I saved them for errrr well I just did as motivation. Keep applying keep trying! It took me 2 1/2 years of applications to every school in my state till I hit gold.

hang on tight....don't give up! if you really want to become a nurse you will. as others have suggested, apply to other programs. however, i would also inquire as to why i am being rejected if i meet all the requirements. it doesn't hurt to ask; that way you can use their suggestions when applying to other universities. :) good luck and keep us posted.

If this is really what you really want then go for nursing. Maybe this is not the right school for you, there are others. Maybe start with an associates program, get a job in a hospital preferably as a cna and keep going to school. Good luck.
