Nursing Students ADN/BSN

Just a rant.... I am starting the rn-bsn program and I cannot believe the cost for a 3 credit class... $1600!!! This is a state school. I guess I am having a little bit of sticker shock

There is no way I would pay such ridiculous tuition costs today. When I would take classes, I could pay for one whole class with just one week's paycheck. I went to a private college for my ADN, and I think paid about $1000 per semester. That included all the classes and fees. For the BSN, I paid $300-500 per class. Books were the most expensive thing back then. I never qualified for financial aid, but also never took out a loan. I really feel sorry for anyone who has to try and get an education today. The payscale for nurses in my area does not justify the price of tuition. I don't know what the answer is, but somethings got to change.

As others have said there are cheaper options out there. I went to a private college's on-line RN-BSN program and spent around 20k. Looking back I could have spend much less, but because of the transfer agreement they had with my diploma program I only had to take 9 classes, and no gen eds, which made the program from start to finish 8 months, full time. I could not have graduated that fast elsewhere

I think employers should offer more tuition reimbursement to RN's. RN-BSN programs are expensive. It is a bit of a racket Magnet hospitals now require BSN's. So we work hard and spend lots of money to the universities to get our BSN. I just started back to college. I have been avoiding it.

RN-BSN programs really aren't that expensive. Or don't have to be. They are no more expensive than other degree programs.

My three credit class for English was 600. My 16 or so credits at Ohio University was around 2000-3000.

I hate the bill I receive each semester right now for my RN-BSN online program. I really makes me think about the MSN I really want.

I see you're from cleveland, have you tried Ohio University? That seems to be a popular one....I am from Cleveland too and am in the search myself.

Be glad you get tuition assistance. Some people don't.

I haven't even started my program yet and just to accept my seat (no tuition involved) is $700 dollars. Plus $50 for sending my transcripts and $65 to apply.... Add in the cost of books for my first semester $1000 and all the miscellaneous tasks to complete $500 and I'll have spent over $2000 BEFORE ever touching my tuition. But just think....in 2 years I'll have a bad*** career!!!
