Just because you are a nurse...

Just because you are a nurse doesn't mean you have to be a Democrat or Liberal. I remember when the healthcare bill was first being discussed everyone on this site seemed to be pushing leftist ideals and it was a sin to be against Obamacare. I don't see anyone hyping it now. I thought it was a bad bill then and apparently it's a bad bill now. I wonder how many nurses are still siding with the Progressives. I remember how hard I got blasted on this site for speaking against that bill.

No one stated otherwise.

You should probably try pointing out the reasons why you think the health care reform efforts underway are, as you put it, "bad." A discussion on the merits of your arguments might follow.

There are many of us here who are against it. Don't feel all alone. :)

There are so many threads here about this issue - and it is being actively discussed almost every day.

Sometimes I do feel outnumbered though - so I realize how you feel.

Keep posting!

Well it has been said that if the bill passes, there would be more insured customers going to the hospitals. Hopefully more insured customers mean more money for hospitals and hopefully more money for nurses. But now that the one state that already just about has universal health care coverage, sent a republican in, the bill is doomed anyways.

Yes, that Republican majority of 41-59 does seem insurmountable. As Jon Stewart put it, Bush II didn't have near the numbers the Democrats now have in Congress when he did "WHAT EVER the **** he wanted."

I could be reading this all wrong, but I don't think so. You seem to be trolling for an argument. Why? What's in it for you? I doubt you'll be vindicated.

Rather than spouting blanket statements to get emotional reactions, put forth some legitimate points for real discussion.

I'm neither, I hate the government period. But I love taking care of people period.

I agree with you. I just don't like the way it has been politicalized. How it seems it's more about pushing an ideology than a real reform that will work and be beneficial. In my opinion the big insurance companies still win in this bill and we as americans lose. Without a public option these companies are still running the show. What's the point of the reform bill if were not going to address the insurance companies? I also don't understand how mandating that all americans buy insurance is really helping. Doesn't that seem like it will only add more burden to the middle working class? The only way you get subsidized is if you have a family of four and you are married. What about me? I'm not married and have no kids. Luckily, my hospitals pays for 78% of my healthcare while I pick up the rest. This current bill that is out; I don't see how it will lower cost of insurance when these insurance companies will have a monopoly and will profit even more when we are mandated to buy those insurances from those companies.

That's just my opinion. But whatever, it doesn't matter. Why don't they just fix what is broke, one step at a time.

Or maybe, we just need to except what healthcare really is; that maybe healthcare isn't a right that we all like to believe it is. But a privilege, to those who can afford it. It goes with that saying, you get what you pay for.

Reid has already ruled out budget reconciliation, or has he changed his mind?

we currently have 2 choices...we can watch the market balance itself...capitalism will cure the woes of the system, people will continue to be financially devastated by health care encounters, insurance companies will continue to run the show...and we can blame the bankrupt for their lack of planning. Or...we can trust lawyers and politicians who are committed first and foremost to themselves and re-election, continue to spend 3-4 times what the rest of the world gets for free? or at least GREATLY reduced costs.

I am a registered Republican, have been since the day I turned 18. As I have gotten older I have found that I do tend to have a libertarian political view (I want the government out of my pants and my pockets). I was against the bill before just as I am now ( I am not against universal health care all together, just that bill). I did not vote for Obama either. Although I did not really like anyone that was running this time around. I am kinda of an odd duck; I am an OB nurse believing strongly in women's rights that graduated from a hippy dippy Holistic nursing program; but I am so far from being a Democrat that some times I have to change the news channel when they come on so I don't throw the remote at the T.V. (oh, and I can not stand Michael Moore:lol2:)

Not singling anyone out, but I think the reason that a lot of people assume that nurses are all Democrats on here is because often Democrats are the most outspoken.
