Just because you are a nurse doesn't mean you have to be a Democrat or Liberal. I remember when the healthcare bill was first being discussed everyone on this site seemed to be pushing leftist ideals and it was a sin to be against Obamacare. I don't see anyone hyping it now. I thought it was a bad bill then and apparently it's a bad bill now. I wonder how many nurses are still siding with the Progressives. I remember how hard I got blasted on this site for speaking against that bill.

i'm for doing good for people who really need the help (just like i explained in my original post) however, i cant see myself just paying for people who constantley leech off of society without making any significant contributions other than making babies and watching tv at home. this is why there is such stuanch oposition to this healthcare reform but it is under the pretense of costing to much money. i make sacrifices every ******* day esp. while im doing 12hrs er for some people who really dont deserve it and should be locked up in jail not to see daylight again.

Being devils advocate here , you could apply your leech definition to housewifes , does any of us think of them as leches , No , so you make a judgement of some and label the uninsured as leechs . Why not describe those who could afford health insurance but choose to use their resources for other things eg . healthy , usually young people who because they are less likely to become sick , rely upon the tax payer to cover their unexpected healthcare bills or go into bankrupcy to get out of the responsibility of payment of their bill .

Those opposed to health care reform usually say the individual should be responsible for their healthcare cost , this will mean mandating health insurance ( which they usually oppose ) , because how else will every one have the assets to pay their healthcare bills . Having no insurance is not just an individual choice , it is an abdication of responsibilty that inevitably puts the tax payer on the hook for their unpaid bills.

The thing I am trying to point out that it is impossible to create a fool proof system , like everyone I do not wish to subsidize the growth of somebody elses butt , upon my dollar , but one persons deadbeat is anothers hero ie. the non -health insurance carrier is as much a moocher as the welfare mom .They are both relying on us to ensure the health care systems viabiklity when they cannot meet their responsibilities to pay for their care .

Apparently you do more than frown upon that, you make value judgements about them as people...you consider them lazy and leeches and you don't feel that they are entitled to affordable health care, presumably because they do not deserve it.

We have a rich history or seeking to be a benevolent society. Altruism may be dead in America today, replaced by an attitude of get what you can while you can and don't worry much about the guy next to you...he probably wants what is yours.

If they were to go to jail they would be entitled to healthcare.

And I consider that the fallacy in our system. The rapist and child molester gets decent health care and meals free access to education while they watch tv. But the family down the road who works their fingers to the numb to make ends meet have less than average healthcare and dont qualify for assistance cause its not in the budget to help Americans that actually try to help themselves.
