Just failed NCLEX-Rn for 3rd time!!

Published

i have taken the NCLEX 2 times in CA and my third time was in NY. I am not giving up but I am getting tired of studying for this exam.

I know it is not hard but there is something I am not getting.

I have used Kaplan Q Bank and Saunders book and CD. I have not used Suzannes plan religiously which now makes me think i should.

Any advice?

I am not giving up, it just frustrates me that i adore this field and cant work already because I cant pass one test.

So please someone motivate me

excell review is around $500? what are the passing rate on those that have used suzzane's plan? just focus on saunder 4th edi.

Use the search facility, many threads discussing this, there are many many nurses who passed using her plan

I know how you feel. You can go through the whole spectrum of emotions. I finally passed after my 4th time. I took Kaplan, Hurst, read Saunders, but what help me the most was to take deep breaths after reading the question and to take my time. You can do this, go into the exam believing that you will suceed, I always did and it finally worked and never, never quit.

Sorry to here about news but your not the only one. I failed in November for the 4th time and I am going to take it again after the Holiday's. I know what you mean about studying. It seems like there is nothing else to study and you say like what is the problem how can it be. I am sort of new here and I just bought the Saunders review and I am in the process of doing that and when I am done I am going to try Suzanne's plan. Hopefully something works b/c this is a long time trying to pass a test. Good luck to you and keep plugging away and be positive...:) :snowman:

You have to keep positive because our minds can sometimes be our worst enemy.

I am staying positive only because I cannot wait to start working and learn hands on. I am a visual learner so reading the text is killing me.

Good luck to you all and thanks for the encouragement.

I will do this!!!

Did you actually go to the Kaplan classess, because I found them helpful. I'm sure you know the content--maybe you just need some help with test taking strategy. Keep trying. I know someone who failed 3 times and has gone on to be a nurse practitioner.

yes i have taken the kaplan classes and did the ques trainer and q bank ques. i used saunders as well but not as my primary study source.

I keep thinking i would have to go thru the boards again if i want to be a NP!!! No thank you!!!! :)

im glad to hear that youre not giving up. i also took the nclex 3 times and have failed for the 3rd time. so i know exactly how you feel. i think we just need to work on our weak areas as well as draw on our strengths. im currently wondering if i should take another review?? im gonna focus on saunders and try to do suzanne's plan. hang in there. if we got through nursing school we can get through this test. i'll keep you in my prayers.

Hey,

I failed the nclex too and it's not so fun studying for this exam. I know it is frustrating and its good that you're not giving up. I am trying to do suzanne's plan and it started with the saunders book. So giving suzzane's plan a shot may not be a bad idea.

hi!

i failed once in CA and took a review course in Excell nursing review, they helped me pass.

anyway, don't loose hope! just keep going until you reach your goal!

:redpinkhe

my friend also passed.she took a review course in excell..i wanna enrol also but i dont know if they have it here in seattle?

Hi guys, I too failed my first time. I am looking forward to retaking most likely in Feb. but not giving up. I know that sometimes we feel like asking if it is worth all the headsches, but we did not go to school to come this far and then give up. We have to take a breath and get back in the saddle and decide that we are going to pass this test - there is no getting around it. I know that it is hard, but we have many supporters on this site and we have read the stories about SUCCESSES and FAILURES but all the poeple who failed did not give up so lets get on with it!!!:twocents: :banghead: STUDY, STUDY (If you are a visual learner make flash cards or buddy up with someone for help).

hi there

a canadian nurse here. I took an 8hr written exam in canada and passed with no problem on the first try. I have been a nurse here for 2 1/2 years now. But for some reason I can not pass your NCLEX. I have written it twice and was ready to give up until i found this website. You guys are awsome im gonna give it another try.. maybe 3rd time is a charm

yes i have taken the kaplan classes and did the ques trainer and q bank ques. i used saunders as well but not as my primary study source.

Well, not that you need to be thinking about the boards to be a NP right now--it just goes to show that anything is possible and to not give up. You may be feeling anxiety so I would suggest taking a break of studying for a few days. Also, you may need a new set of questions. Many times when I studied I was getting questions right because I've seen them before and just knew the answer. Have you tried "Reviews and Rationales Comprehensive Review for the RN"? It's a big red book that comes with a CD full of questions along with questions in the book. If you haven't used this CD before, I would suggest doing the "study" mode. It gives you 25 questions at a time and gives you the correct answer right and the rationale after you answer each question.
