  1. hello everyone!! i finally passed my nclex-rn board exam after my fifth attempt!! it was the best feeling in the world to see my name show up as a licensed RN!!! my friend had looked it up before me & texted me the best news of my life. i immediately looked it up on my laptop & there it was my name as an ACTIVE REGISTERED NURSE!!!! i ran out of my room screaming! it was the best feeling in the world! words cannot describe how great it felt. i have been tryin for about a year & a half & it felt so good that all my hard work was finally manifested into something great! it was not easy. rather a very hard, difficult & challenging journey but all worth it. i am here to tell you guys to not give up, stay determined & persevere because i promise you that this great feeling no one can ever take away from you. i took kaplan twice. this other review (reviewfornurses.com with over 28hrs of lectures & a question bank). i used saunders. & all of these didNOT work for me. but i am in no way taking away from these review sources. different strokes for different folks. i have heard great things about all of these other reviews & thats why i tried them but unfortunately after a lot of time & money spent they did not help me reach my goal of passing. until i came across Excell Nursing Review. (excellnursingreview.com) after my 4th failure @ this test i was almost ready to throw in the towel. failing 4x = a lot of $$, time & heart ache. BUT i realized that i worked my butt off in nursing school to get my degree i owe it to myself to pass this test. & i did not wanna be a quitter. so by word of mouth & some research i heard of Excell Nursing Review. i believe God knew what he was doing! i made a deadline of when i wanted to take my fifth test & had to stick to it. this review is only held in certain cities & at certain times of the year, so you need to look up which is most convenient for you. i ended going out of town to attend the san francisco review (i live in southern ca). but let me tell you attending this review was probably the most rigorous, comprehensive & intense 10 days of my life but very very effective. i recommend this review to anyone who has the money & time to take it. it felt right & the instructors are very knowledgable and helpful to the students. they are definitely there to help everyone pass. their teaching methods were very straight to the point & concise but very understandable. the instructors are very skilled & experienced nurses which benefited all of us to learn from their own experiences. after i came home from the review, i took 2-3 days off then hit the books really hard for 2 weeks. no going out with friends, just focused focused focused. i read everything over & over again & really focused on med-surg. & i didnt touch any other review resource. i only sticked to the material they gave. on the day of my test i was so nervous yet way more confident than any of the other times. i took my time, read each question carefully & wrote out everything i could on my dry erase board about any diagnosis or condition i had on the test. as i was slowly approaching 70, 71, 72, 73, 74 & then #75 my computer shut off as soon as i answered #75!!! i was so anxious yet knew i answered each question to the best of my ability. no med calculations (which i focused a lot on!) & i received a lot of SATA(select all that apply) those were tricky. i took my test on thursday & found out i passed on a tuesday morning. i then received my license in the mail on thursday! it felt so good to achieve my goal & pass. i just want to let everyone know that it can be done. dont give up. determination. perseverance & of course prayer!! im so thankful & blessed to be a registered nurse.
  2. CONGRATS!!! good luck in your nursing career. i was wondering what helped you out the most? which reading materials or questions or cds??
  3. im glad to hear that youre not giving up. i also took the nclex 3 times and have failed for the 3rd time. so i know exactly how you feel. i think we just need to work on our weak areas as well as draw on our strengths. im currently wondering if i should take another review?? im gonna focus on saunders and try to do suzanne's plan. hang in there. if we got through nursing school we can get through this test. i'll keep you in my prayers.
  4. wow! i think you are well on your way. you seem to be focused and disciplined despite your family duties. i agree it is really hard to stay positive but it is a must. your attitude plays a major factor in succeeding in your boards. trust me i have already taken the exam and did not pass because my nerves were getting the best of me. i know now that i have to have a positive frame of mind or else. i just started to panic and stress because i felt i wasnt ready enough. but i realized you have to be confident in your own nursing knowledge and competency in nursing. there is so much nursing content out there but you must be 100% sure in yourself. stay positive and focused and think of how great it will feel after you pass w/all this hard work. i am not quitting and planning on taking the boards in beginning of feb? i too am using saunders. good luck, i'll be praying for you.
  5. i am also planning to take my boards in jan/feb 09. im working on the first part of suzanne's plan. and i also using flashcards mosby's & saunders. -Gestational DM occurs during 2nd and 3rd trimester. -Avoid oral hypoglycemic agents (OHA) during pregnancy. This increases the risk of polyhydramnios. -The client with increased intracranial pressure should be placed in lateral, semi-Fowler's position (HOB elevated at 15 to 30- degree angle up to 45- degree angle). -Elevated Troponin I and T are the best indicators of MI. GOOD LUCK everyone!!! stay positive and be confident.
