June 2008 NCLEX support group

Published

This thread is for any upcoming graduates taking NCLEX in June of 2008.

To start off with I would love to hear if anyone is taking Kaplan, or Drexel or other prep courses and why did you choose the one you did? I am looking into them and I am just not sure which one is best and why.

Thanks!

Need to be:

I am testing in New Mexico. How about you? I am glad that you are feeling better about everything and that I could help you out. I think that you need to study today and then take the day completely off on Friday and do something nice for yourself so that you can be sure that you are well rested for Saturday. I probably won't sleep well Friday night, but I'm sure going to try and am hoping my massage will help with that! Best of luck! My prayers are with you and I will be waiting to hear great news from you! Let me know if you need anything else! I'm so thankful to everyone on this forum- it's so nice that we can all help eachother out! :heartbeat

lOBOSCON08,

hOW MANY QYESTIONS HAVE YOU BEEN DOING WITH THE TRAINER?

I am just curious, cuz it's cutting close to less than a week, and I just don't want to over due it, but feel it is necessary (lol)! Thanks for the feedback.

loboscon,

I'm testing in CT. So come Saturday while I'm taking my test I'll be thinking about you and how you are most likely done. You will be great! I am going to study a little more today eat some dinner and study some more. Then I'm going to take a break. I think that I will listen to the pharm lecture from Kaplan tomorrow morning but thats about all. I just want to get some good sleep. I am also taking a trip to the testing center so that I can drive there without any worry at all. I will be praying and thinking about you on Saturday. Thanks again.

its a miracle i passed i found out exactly 48 hrs from the time my test shut off today. i am so happy and now i know what it feels like for all those people who post and say now i can put rn behind my name what a great feeling. i thought for sure i was doomed. thanks for the support!:yeah:

congrats lindsey er! enjoy the new nurse status and celebrate.

everyone who is like me.. and waiting to take the exam... good luck studying...

we can all do this!

This may give you a good laugh... and I'm sure you can relate....

I'am a basket case awaiting my results and thought even though the results will be posted tomorrow I will check today. And of course they weren't up on Pearson. So since you can verify a license on your state's website, I decided to do that.

I typed in my name and city and low & behold there I was with a license number!!!!!!! TEARS of JOY, YELLING, and JUMPING up & down!!!! My husband comes in and kisses & hugs me and says congratulations!!!!!!

He then goes over to the computer and says "Um, honey, I don't know how to say this but this is your Graduate Nurse Temporary License."

:chuckle

For a moment... I knew what it felt like to have passed!!!! Who invited my husband in the room anyway...LOL

Thank you for that laugh....as we are all so anxious now it is nice to be able to do that. I hope you get to experience that feeling again soon...although I might keep my husband away from the computer next time. lol:chuckle

My name showed up on the OK BON site this morning, and I tested on Tuesday afternoon.

Pearson Vue won't have my results available until this afternoon, but I'm thinking that, if the BON says I'm an RN, then I PASSED!!!!!!

Yippie!! Congratulations!!! :yeah::yeah:

I retake mine next wednesday, so you are not alone. I wish you the ebst of luck. At this point in the last week, I am taking the kaplan trainer over and over....It seems harder than the Saunders book. What do you think??:o

Yes I do believe that they are harder and they are much more similiar to what I saw on NCLEX the first time. Is that what you have found? They really make me sit back and think things through which is what this is all about. I have been taking 100-150 questions a day for the past week. I still have QT7 to take tomorrow and then review labs, pharm, and infection control over the weekend while answering more questions. I am also reading through each and every rationale to make sure that my thinking is along the correct lines. I read saunders cover to cover for my first attempt and took all of the chapter questions and some of the CD questions. I do feel like I am much better prepared this time and I certainly remember and know more but I am still worried that it will not be enough and I will experience that dreaded feeling of not passing. But alas, we can accomplish this!!! Just keep saying and thinking that over and over and over and over..... Good luck next Wednesday and keep me posted on your experience.

I got mine at a Vitamin Cottage, but I am almost positive that they would have it at Whole Foods. I hope you can find some, it works wonders! Good luck to you! :D

Well, each question trainer has a different amount of questions. They range from 75-265. Kaplan suggest not doing more than 150 questions per day unless you take the trainer that has over 150. I think keeping with 150 is good because much more than that gets a little overwhelming and its too much info to retain! Good luck with the rest of your studying and of course GOOD LUCK on your test!!! You can and will pass! Best wishes! :D

Actually if you live in CT wouldn't you be finished before me?? I'm so horrible at time zones....so sorry if I'm way off! HAHA Either way, I'll be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for you! You're going to do great! I think that taking a trip to the testing center is a great idea and have heard that suggestion from a lot of people! Its supposed to lessen your anxiety so you know exactly where your going! The testing center here is right by my house, so I don't really need to do a drive by. Your study plan for the rest of your time sounds great too! Hang in there, we are almost DONE and will both soon be R.N.'s! Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers! WE CAN DO THIS! :D :heartbeat Just remember to breathe!

:tinkbll:ICU2008,

Thank you, and congrats on your new career too. I started my internship last month but I have only been on the floor for a couple of days although I feel like I really just started today. ha-ha. What area are you in or should I ask [iCU2008]? I hope you will really enjoy your chosen area of nursing and your check too of course.

First off congrats again on passing NCLEX

I am in the critical care internship, we just received are schedule for the 16 weeks and it is very intense but hey it keeps on your p's and q's.

Hope your internship is going well.

Hi guys. Just joining the thread. I live in CA and am taking the NCLEX next friday (the 27th). I am so nervous!!!!!!!! I just finished the Kaplan classroom course. I got a 67% on my readiness test and have been getting in the 60s on my question trainers.

I am freaking out, trying to keep my test anxiety under control.
