This thread is for any upcoming graduates taking NCLEX in June of 2008.
To start off with I would love to hear if anyone is taking Kaplan, or Drexel or other prep courses and why did you choose the one you did? I am looking into them and I am just not sure which one is best and why.
Thanks!
Good luck, amber07! I'm sending positive vibes your way! I am still working on finishing all of my kaplan stuff and should be done by Thursday and test on Saturday! I'm trying to watch all of the content videos online, but they are so long that it's almost impossible to get through all of them! What topics did your instructor say to really focus on? I'd love some advice on that because right now, I feel like I need to get through it all! Also, how many questions are in the qbank?? I would like to get through all of them as well but am unsure of how many total there are! RELAX today and think positive thoughts! Let us know how it goes tomorrow! YOU CAN DO IT!
Hi Everyone!!Okay so I took the NCLEX this morning at 8am... It shut off at 75 questions and it took me about 85-90 minutes. At this point I'm feeling pretty good about it..figuring that I had a TON of SATA and almost all prioritization other than that.
I felt like the studying I had done (Saunders, Hesi, and Kaplan, DelMar) did an adequate job of preparing me. The questions weren't difficult as much as the answer choices were tricky (in my opinion). I had expected the questions to be a step harder than the practice questions but it was actually moreso the answer choices seemed harder to choose.
Good luck everyone...I'll post back when I hear my results!! Just go in there and be CALM!! You ARE prepared to do this!!!
I agree with you, I also felt like it wasn't as much the questions as the answers. Have to love those SATA's.
An example SATA question that I made up on my own would be:The nurse would place which of the following clients on droplet precautions: Select All That Apply
- A 46 year old client with meningitis
- A 42 year old client postop day 2 after a hysterectomy
- A 16 year old client with TB
- A 55 year old client with an upper respiratory infection
- A 22 year old client with HIV
- A 14 year old client with Rubella
They can be way more complicated than this and also sometimes but rarely are they any easier! I hope this helps! THEY ARE DREADFUL and I DESPISE them!
Hey Loboscon08,
Were you sitting there with me or something? My God that looks just like a question they would give, so you are on the right track for sure. Good Luck to you and I know you will pass for sure now.
"My doctor prescribed Xanax 0.25mg for my test anxiety:confused: but I will not be taking because I will be sleepy!!"
You will be fine. However, if you do have severe test anxiety, severe enough to frazzle you, the vitamin X may help. Chances are you will still have too much adrenaline to be sleepy. Besides, you can always break the pill in half or even in fourths; enough to pull you off the ceiling without dropping you straight to the floor.
Best of luck and congrats on your graduation from nursing school.
hello all,
i had to work today and was supposed to stay until 7pm but of course i was just to nervous and since there were too many of us in the orientation phase they let me leave.
i can and will be happy to eat my own words now because of all the hours i spent thinking everything was wrong it turns out i must have done alot of those satas right because,
i passed you all!!! omg
it sure has been a long two days.

i knew you did it!!!!!!!!!! congratulations to you! i am so happy for you! :loveya:
now send all of your knowledge and good vibes my way!!!!! i told you that all those sata's meant you passed!!!! yay for you, you're an rn!
Thanks Loboscon08,
I know you kept telling me but I swear I truly didn't think I had a chance. I so wanted some of those easier questions were you could just think your way through, and the dosage calc. took about three conversions before you could work the problem out, I'm so glad it is over.
Oh, BTW, I'm sending that knowledge you requested. Ha-ha..
What are you studying by the way, that question [sATA] you posted before was amazingly close.

I'm so glad it's over for you too and cannot wait to be in that place! This time next week, I will know my results!
I took Kaplan and have done SOME (very little) saunder's, NCLEX made easy and NCLEX 3500. My main study focus has been on Kaplan. I got a little overwhelmed with all of the resources that I had so I just decided to focus on ONE thing. I'm so glad to know that my made up SATA was close to what you saw! The only thing- can I figure out what the answers really are to my own question? LOL After I posted it, I was really like hmmmm do I even know the answer to that question? I'll have to go back and study that material FOR sure! That scares me about your dosage calculation! I am not very good with the multiple step ones but LOVE the basic what you want over what you have type of questions! I am also pretty weak on meds! I had a really horrible pharm teacher and didn't really learn anything other than what I had to deal with in clinicals. My goal is to hit that area Wednesday! Thanks so much for sending your knowledge my way! I'm definitely feeling smarter as I type this! HAHA Congrats, again!
ahh i take mine tomorrow morning...wish me luck!!!! i did all of Kaplan qbank, question trainers, went over the incorrect ones again...reviewed the book for the things my instructor told me to...i guess thats the best i can do!!!!!
The best of luck to you, try to relax and don't get to nervous before you start. If you are nevous and can't think, make sure you don't click that next button until you settle yourself down and do some deep breathing exercises. We will all be back here pulling for you the whole time.
:loveya::loveya::loveya::loveya::loveya:
This goes for all of you getting ready to test. Just try to stay busy afterwards for a couple of days while you wait for results. Good Luck, we can all do this. We made it through nursing school and that was no easy task.
