Hi everyone,
I have the feeling that those of us who are going to take our nclex in July should start to share our
ideas and views and at the same time encourage each other in any way we can.I
strongly believe that the earlier the better, and together we can make it in Jesus NAME.
STUDY,STUDY,STUDY. PRAY,PRAY,PRAY. We will be successful. For me I have been
changing my date because I am doing Kaplan online, LA Charity,Exam cram and
using Saunders as my ref. book. It's your turn to share your ideas. Thanks and
Welcome to this study group.
HI I just wanted to enquire as a registered nurse in the uk, how do you go about studying for the NCLEX exam? How difficult is it and how much preparation time do you realistically need in order to achieve a successful pass? Once you have passed can you apply to US agencies on your own?
I found Saunders comprehensive review the best and also used learningext.com (passed on third) It can be hard especially if you are an experienced nurse so when looking at the questions look as if you have no experience.
Once passed NCLEX and have met state requirements you can look on your own but even if you go with an agency you will be affected by retrogression and currently looking at 5+ years of waiting for a immigrant visa
I initially was going to the US and had a job offer my PD was 2006 and if I was still in the UK I would still be waiting. I would suggest you check out the International forum regarding the process as it is off topic to the NCLEX forum
Precious2Him, I know... no one can afford Kaplan! My father paid for it, and I'll pay him back out of my first check from work (it comes in 6 days! Yay!). I said that there was no way I'd take a review class, I was almost a 4.0 student, and my HESI (Ours was called Elsevier, but it was by the HESI company, does that count?) said that I was super high, but I panicked and caved... took the class online and am hoping I'll be fine. The Worried Well, that's what my teacher calls me. She has no idea what goes on in my head!
I soooooooo cannot wait to get this behind me. 11 days to go, and I am starting to freak out again. If I keep everything else in my life smooth, I am fine, but the minute I have too much to do in too little time (which used to happen every day I was in school) or the laundry piles up, I start to freak again. Ayyyyy, I cannot wait!
I am worried, though, that I don't have everything done to take the test... I could look it up, and I probably will, but do I need anything besides the ATT and my ID when I go? Did I need to get fingerprinted already? Help! (see, here comes the freak out again :uhoh21:)
Hi Everyone! Few more days and it's July! I'm taking my test on July 9th and im getting really nervous. I've been studying content for the past 2 months, using Saunders and Kaplan Course Book. Now, i've been doing practice question using NCLEX 400, Exam Cram and the LaCharity book...Anyone have tips on areas to concentrate on for the coming weeks? Im getting extremely anxious, this is my 4th time to take the test, and I really wanna pas this so bad... thanks in advance.

As far as preparation I've taking the live Kaplan course (just finished), currently trying to read through the entire course book, trying to read at least finish one chapter per day along with 50 Qbank questions. My current focus is to get through the book, then focus on just questions the until exam, I've only done one Qtrainer and a about 300 Qbank Q's so far, average maybe around the 50's? But on my readiness test I got a 68%!? I think I took that more seriously vs when I do Qbank, but at the same time I don't know what to think, I just hope to improve on these Kaplan questions, or better yet pass the NCLEX already. I'm anxious to take it already and get it over with but at the same time I want more time to study, the days til the exam are coming by fast

Hi siegrid :) good luck to your exam on august :) Same here, I can't afford review classes so I'll be relying on books. May I know where did you buy your kaplan 2010 - 2011 book & la charity book? Thanks in advance. God bless.:)
Hi guys! Im testing on august. Its gonna be my second time. Um doing the la charity book and purchased the kaplan 2010-2011.i hopenit will help this time. Please share with us the test preparations you have been taught in review class. Cant afford review class so ill stick to my books.
Seriously, I think I've spent more time studying in this last month than during the entire FOUR YEARS of school (not more than the time I spent writing papers, however ). Can't wait until the 6th. Took Kaplan QTrainer 6 today, got a 72. Soooooo happy with that, and sooooo badly want this to be done!

Hi everyone!
I'm taking the exam July 2nd and focusing on Kaplan QTs and Qbank. About 200Qs a day, content review from Kaplan of areas I'm rusty on, and memorizing my weak areas (like meds, labs, developmental milestones, contact/airborne/droplet, endocrine, oncologic emergencies, and math conversions ... SHEESH!
)
In my last semester we did cover to cover of Saunders including all Qs in the CD. So I really don't feel like re-doing those questions would help me much. I'm only going to use it as a supplement at this point.
Boy, oh boy, am I nervous though ... seems like everyday it is harder and harder to fall asleep!
