Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN 2009 Applicants!

Published

Hey! I am starting to apply for the traditional BSN/MSN program at Johns Hopkins, and I was wondering if anyone else is out there freaking out about their applications!

Holler back! :nurse:

Like network up there, I have been busy taking finals too. I'm also on painfully slow dial up right now :-)

I'm glad to read of all the acceptances! Congrats all!

And I want to agree with Hopkins_undergrad + serasarah that Hopkins does have a very good ratio, and that being male would probably give you more of an edge than a disadvantage (I'm thinking that ppl would want more males in a female dominated profession. At least it makes you stand out easily.) Also I know some schools that I'm planning on applying to (UW, OHSU--I dont remember specifically which one) has really really competitive ratios. I think 26 people accepted into the program out of 450+ applying! So thats definitely worse than JHU.

SFChef, dont let those tears shed too quickly. I'm planning on applying to UMich too...so maybe we will end up as classmates afterall!! So far (since mine keep changing) I'm planning on applying to UMich, UW, OHSU, NYU, UPenn (?), and I wrote down some others. Check out the Peterson's Nursing Programs 2009 book, you can use Link+ if the city's libraries are all out. It actually lists new programs for this year.

I'm applying to other schools too, while trying to remain sanguine :-) JHU also gave me a deferment. So we'll see. Anyway, thanks for all the much needed support guys! Yall really helped me out:loveya:

There's still Monday!:saint: (New week-new hope)

Jane, you were deferred? What does that mean? Were you just pushed to the Regular Decision pile and they will re-consider you? Hope so! Even though the wait is horrible, at least you'll have the chance of still going to Hopkins! :)

Good luck with the applications! :) Keep us updated! We're still here to support you!

Heh, I'm not too sure actually. :p The shock of not getting a straight forward denial made me forget most of the conversation I had. I think maybe because I didnt finish all my pre-reqs yet, so they're putting off a decision until I send them my new grades...shrug.

Thanks, btw. I will need lotsa support/ advice, etc. Rejection is pretty hard to handle (moot).:imbar

I know how you feel JustJane. I was rejected by Yale, and although I didn't act like I cared it kinda hurt. I couldn't help but make it personal. But I am trying to remain optimistic about my last three schools. Everything is gonna get better for us.

Thanks jcarranz:specs:. I'm adding more schools to my orificenal, to cushion the blow of other rejection possibilities. I dont want to end up waiting another year, but I dont want to go to somewhere in Kansas either (or CSU Bakersfield), no offense to any1. (I prefer coastal regions.)

But hey, if I wanted to be denied by any school...nothing better than Yale.

:smiletea2:

Although I wasn't expecting to hear back until next year since I am Regular Decision, I received my rejection letter today.

I had my interview yesterday for the ABSN-MSN. I think it went well but now I just have to pray that I get in. Congrats to everyone that has already. I just hope theres room for me now :)

mzahnow,

i have my interview friday for absn-msn with mary o'rourke. so far, i've heard the hopkins interview is relatively informal, but i would love to hear any tips or suggestions you may have.

best of luck for all of us!

yes it was very informal...no need to be nervous at all. She will basically just ask you questions like what made you pick johns hopkins, what made you choose your masters degree program, what you plan to do with it...those types of questions. Deff no need to be nervous. I felt very comfortable with the interview. Good luck!!!

Has anyone who applied for the Accelerated BSN/MSN program (regular decision) heard back yet? I have a feeling that calls/letters will be going out soon and I'm getting very nervous. For those who have already been accepted to the program, would you mind sharing your gpa/experience/etc.? Thanks and good luck to all!

I think (just based on last year's thread) that calls for reg. decision started around the 17th? I wonder if it's a similar time frame this year...

Ya, I am assuming it will be starting within the next week or so. I'm getting very nervous! Lars23, did you apply for the Accelerated BSN/MSN program?
