  1. That is awesome!!! How exciting!! CONGRATULATIONS! When do you begin school?
  2. Hey! I think it is a good sign you received the financial aid packet. I received it the other day and over the summer when I met with Terry Witherington (the PNP director), she said that was a good sign to receive the packet. I don't think it is a gurantee but definitely a good sign! Also, they told me that it is rare to hear back later than March 1st, so hopefully it is coming up soon. I'm so torn between Penn/Hopkins. I did find out today that I was accepted to Marquette but I don't know much about their program... Vanderbilt is such an amazing school and Nashville happens to be my favorite place on earth : ) I'm sure you will absolutely LOVE it if you go there. Best of luck, keep us updated!
  3. I think what helped me out the most was definitely my interview and maybe my essays. My gpa is average (3.5), I submitted my GRE scores (1160), I have some volunteer and shadowing experience but nothing extensive. I actually got C's in both chemistry and biology so I was really worried that would be a problem, but somehow I guess it was not. I enclosed a letter with my application asking the committee to look at my more recent semesters (including microbiology, stats, etc.) as a true indication of my "academic potential", hoping this would convince them to forgive the biology and chem grades. I would definitely say it is worth going to the school for the interview rather than doing a phone interview if you are really worried about your application. I know it is expensive and time consuming but in my case at least, I think it was well worth it. I think it is a lot easier to communicate your passion about the program as well as nursing in general. Sorry I can't offer much advice, but just be confident and don't give up...you will be successful! : )
  4. Hi Ashley! Congratulations to you too! Which program did you apply to? I will private message you my email address so we can get into contact. Allison
  5. Thanks so much!! I was honestly shocked...it had to have been the interview that helped me bc my gpa/gre is nothing impressive. I have no idea what I will pick, I'm hoping I can visit again and get some advice. Keep me updated with what you guys find out about the wait list. Honestly, I think that means you have a wonderful shot at getting in!
  6. Thanks so much!! I was definitely excited/shocked. When my phone rang yesterday and I saw it was Maryland I freaked out haha. That makes me nervous for Penn, keep me posted when you hear back. Best of luck : )
  7. Lauren, I'm so sorry to hear that about Hopkins. I think you have a good chance with your letter of reconsideration because you are definitely an exceptional canidate. Keep me updated on the rest of the schools as you hear back. I know it will all work out for you! Allison
  8. Hey, I found out I got accepted to Johns Hopkins but I haven't heard from the other schools yet. I believe we should hear from Penn around the first of February so pretty soon. Have you heard anything?
  9. Ahhhh hopkins just called and i got in!!!! I cannot believe it!
  10. I know exactly what you mean about the waiting be so difficult. I haven't heard anything yet either but I'm hoping sometime this week! If not this week, then it has to be in the next 2 weeks...I can't imagine it will be much longer. Hang in there!
  11. Thanks for all the info Pianitra! You definitely sound like a unique applicant and obviously all your hard work paid off. It is definitely reassuring to know there are people out there who did try a second time around. It gives me hope that if it doesn't work out this time, maybe next year! Congratulations again!!
  12. I don't know if you have ever visited Vanderbilt or not but I went over the summer and fell in love with both the school and Nashville. The faculty that I met were all wonderful, very informative and friendly. Nashville is such a great city too! Best of luck to you : )
  13. Lauren, I'm trying to message you back but I haven't made enough posts yet so I'll get back to you asap : )
  14. Congratulations mazinni! All your hard work has definitely paid off now that you have been accepted. That definitely encourages me to try again if I am not accepted this year. Well I know Hopkins is quite a bit more than $10,000 but just how much I am not certain. I think they have the information on their website though. Best of luck to you in making your decision!
