  1. Thanks for the advice. I haven't had a whole bunch of hospital experience, but this year I am celebrating my 6th year working with people with mental retardation. I thought that would be some good experience but apparently not. I think I am going to apply to some schools here in my hometown. It's competitive all over the place.
  2. I didn't get into Columbia, but so far some good things are happening. One of my poems is being published and I get to read it at a poetry festival. I also have a job interview. Things are okay.
  3. AcuteCareinProgress, when did you get your decision?
  4. It's about 6:37 pm in NY. I'm guessing this concludes another long day of waiting.
  5. Hahahaha this whole thing is pure pandemonium. I really wish we had our decisions.
  6. I'm ANP. Didn't some people already get accepted to that specialty?
  7. Wow, fionagurl you were a shoo in for the program. You have an impressive professional and academic background. Congratulations on getting in again! Thanks freyalisa!
  8. It's great that HIV infection is so low, but unfortunate that Hep C is so high. I think that my downfall is that I don't have any experience working with people with HIV/AIDS. I know a lot about the science and the social aspects, but I don't have any experience actually working with the population. I really wanted to get in and do Columbia's minor in HIV/AIDS. I'm still waiting and it's driving me nuts!
  9. That's excellent! I'm really into HIV/AIDS prevention and I believe that needle/syringe exchange programs are beneficial to stopping the spread. It's great that you are willing to work with that community because not many people are willing to do so.
  10. mribera1, Wow! What an interesting background! It's cool that you chose nursing. What is everyone else's background if you don't mind me asking? I was a history major and spent the last five years working with children and adults with mental retardation. My academic background was a bit shaky in the beginning, but I sent them a letter explaining what happened.
  11. I can proudly say that I was able to channel my stress into two new poems.
  12. I applied for ANP. How many ANP applicants do they typically accept? Anyone know?
  13. You're telling me! Sheesh! I've been waiting since September when I first turned in the application. I suppose another day or two won't hurt.
  14. I'm not sure, but I believe a poster from earlier called Columbia and spoke with Jose. He said that they would be sending out the rest of the decisions later this week. I hope mine gets here tomorrow.
  15. I am also waiting. It's frustrating. I've been checking my email all day long, but the decision didn't come today. I hope it does come tomorrow because I don't want to lose my mind.
