This thread is for applicants applying to Johns Hopkins, for either the ABSN or the new Master's Entry program. I've searched a few times and haven't found a thread for this year's admissions cycle, so I decided to start one.
After lots of thinking, I decided to apply to the Master's Entry instead of the ABSN. Anyone else out there applying?
I used to work at JHU as a research assistant. The 929 apartments are safe. Just keep in mind there are very nice parts of Baltimore surrounded by very bad parts. I'm not sure how big of a radius you have of safety or where the nearest grocery store is. I lived in Charles Village which was really nice. I took the free shuttle to the hospital for work. Fells Point and Federal Hill (where Peabody is) are also nice areas. There is also a shuttle stop at Federal Hill if you plan on using JHU transportation.
Hi everyone! I received an acceptance email for the masters entry program yesterday at 5:00pm. This afternoon I received a call from admissions to notify me that I had received a merit scholarship. This information was not included in the acceptance email, but I was told that it would be included in the acceptance mailing (for those wondering).
For those that asked about the the 929 building, yes they are safe and quite convenient-the building is only a few blocks from the SoN. They are also quite expensive for a student budget. I would recommend looking in Charles Village and Mt. Vernon. There are plenty of budget-friendly apartments and a free shuttle runs from these neighborhoods to the medical campus. The shuttles run every 10 minutes or so during peak hours and once an hour late in evening and on the weekends. Other neighborhoods that are close to campus include Fells Point, Canton, and Federal Hill. I live in Baltimore and work at Hopkins if anyone has questions about the hospital, places to live, etc.
@NPhopeful88 Congrats on the acceptance and receiving a merit scholarship! Would you be willing to share more information regarding the merit scholarship? You can email me at [email protected]. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
i'm looking for a possible roommate, for 929 apts since I won't have a car and this place seems the safest.
charming_kitty, I can't reply to your PM so I'll post my reply here -- I've already committed to 929 (4 bed 2 bath, because it's the cheapest). I don't think 929 is necessarily the best or safest option out there, but it is the most convenient for me and my circumstances, since I'll be moving from CA and working until school starts.
I believe you can move into whichever available unit you want (studio, 2bed2bath, etc.) without having roommates -- you just pay your share of the rent and the leasing office will match you with roommates with similar preferences. I wasn't sure if I could find 3 roommates in time so I just signed my lease and left the roommate-matching up to the leasing office. Hope this helps!
Hello everyone. I talked to the director of admissions of the Master Entry program and she said the class is going to be 120 people. There's only 15 or so people in our FB group so I feel that acceptances are still going out! We have until May 1 to deposit the $500 and thats a super long time for now! So don't freak out too much :)

This calms my nerves a little bit! I have a feeling they'll do it in the same pattern as last week some people will hear today and some wed. hopefully fingers crossed.
