This thread is for applicants applying to Johns Hopkins, for either the ABSN or the new Master's Entry program. I've searched a few times and haven't found a thread for this year's admissions cycle, so I decided to start one.
After lots of thinking, I decided to apply to the Master's Entry instead of the ABSN. Anyone else out there applying?
OMGGGG I just got in! My heart is POUNDING. Can someone PM me the Facebook group link? I can't find it on Facebook
And how did you guys find out when the deposit deadline is and when financial aid is being dispersed? Is there an opportunity for direct masters entry students to get grants/ scholarships?
Hi everyone!!! Congrats to everybody this is such an exciting time!! I'm currently trying to decide between UCLA and Johns Hopkins. I'm from California so I'm mostly concerned about the cost of Johns Hopkins. Does anyone have any input on whether one school over the other would increase my chances of getting a job or getting in to NP school? I'm so torn since JHUSON has such a good reputation but so expensive :/
If you would like to work in CA, then you're better off going to UCLA. You can make better professional connections while in school, which could lead to better possibilities of finding work (in theory). Also, you would be paying in-state tuition. I'm pretty sure you'd be saving $20k+ by going to UCLA instead of Hopkins. Finally, UCLA also has a good reputation, especially on the west coast and again, if you plan to work on the west coast, then I think UCLA is your best choice.
The job market in CA is saturated though so that's a potential con to think about.
Just my 2 cents, hope that helps.
^ an email, and a letter sent after!
According to the academic calendar, it seems that the first day of class starts late August Academic Calendar | Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing
I emailed the SON about this- but do you guys know how many hours of clinicals we participate in? and also when we start clinicals?
I'm also from CA and MIGHT be deciding between CSULA (offers bsn, msn, and NP for $50k) or JHU (MSN for $87k, and #2 nursing school). NPs I talked to say that it is where you do your clinicals that matter because you can network there. I am planning on doing my MSN portion in JHU and possibly applying for the FNP portion at CSULA or UCLA!
Recently accepted to JHU. Does anyone know about 929 Apartments? Safety in particular.
I'm also interested in the 929 apartments. The building is so close to the medical campus that I assume safety isn't an issue as long as you don't wander off, but I haven't been to the area yet so I can't say for sure.
Anyone else having any luck with finding a place to live?
