  1. Does anyone know what brand of scrubs they are? I didn't get a chance to try them on during visiting day and I heard they run a little big.
  2. I just got my email with the 2pm PDT batch! I'm deciding between JHU, UCLA, and Columbia...lots of different factors to consider, but we'll end up where we're supposed to end up! Congrats to everyone!!
  3. Accepted as well! :) I will most likely decline though, so wait-listers, don't lose hope! :)
  4. congrats to everyone, and to those who haven't heard, don't lose hope! you'll end up where you're supposed to end up :)
  5. Thank you, this was so helpful! So basically, those are the 3 options we have if we're accepted into the program but not specialty? Also, what does it mean by a specialty "that has space"? (that's a little worrisome, because I'm sure there has to be a definite cap). And do we have to choose by a certain time? So confusing! I know there are a lot of hopefuls that are praying for people to matriculate somewhere else, so is there a waiting list in that situation? I'll definitely be giving them a call tomorrow (sorry I didn't mean to throw all these questions to you LOL) so hopefully they'll have some answers!
  6. Has anyone received any additional info? When I RSVP'd, SM said: "More information will be sent out in the next week or so." But that was on Jan. 15, so it's been over 2 weeks...
  7. That's a good point too, we have to consider the job market once we graduate. I did apply to some direct entry NP programs because I'm pretty sure what I want to go into, but they're all so competitive so I applied all over basically. One caveat with the direct entry programs is that they do teach you the nursing foundation, just VERY accelerated so you'll be done faster. Pros vs. cons!
  8. Hi lagirl_1989! I really don't know yet, and UCLA won't send out decisions for a few months. So many factors play a role, mostly tuition and degree. UCLA is definitely most cost-effective, and I'll ALWAYS always be a Bruin at heart, but the MECN CNL is basically just a master's version of the BSN, not a specialized MSN degree. With Emory's program I'd end up with both a BSN+MSN at the end, with the MSN in Nurse-Midwifery or a Women's Health NP, and that's my ultimate goal. Who knows....I'll cross that bridge when (if?) I get to it!
  9. For anyone who's about the epidemiology requirement, don't be! I knew I would be applying to the MECN program when I was a sophomore at UCLA, so I took the Epi class (Nursing 50) in the summer between my junior and senior years (because nursing classes were restricted to nursing majors during the regular school year). EVERYONE except me in that class was already accepted into the MECN program for that fall, and I was the odd woman out since I still had one more year of undergrad left, PLUS the year off I knew I would be taking. So don't worry, everyone who doesn't have that requirement will bond a little earlier during that summer (something I was definitely envious of!) :)
  10. ah, thank you! just got an email from SM confirming my RSVP. :)
  11. i got the letter too! is it bad that i'm a little hesitant to celebrate since it doesn't specify the MSN specialty? i'm only worried because i applied to nurse-midwifery and i also applied via nursingCAS, so who knows if that makes a difference. and i don't think i'll believe it until it's official! i'm clicking around OPUS to see if it specifies anywhere but so far no luck. congrats to everyone!
  12. Hi all, was the email to RSVP just [email protected]? I foolishly misplaced my letter and but wanted to respond ASAP. I feel so dumb. Thank you in advance to any kind soul who sees this!
  13. How funny, I just started an application for Case Western last week! Thank you so much for your advice :) I'm going to apply, I'm just worried that the rolling application (which started in September) might work against me. But I'm gonna just turn it in ASAP since I already have all the materials ready. What do we have to lose, right?
  14. Thank you!! I wasn't able to attend the info session since I'm in CA. I really appreciate your help :) I guess it depends on if I want to risk it, huh? It's been causing me anxiety all week!
  15. Thanks jennnnnn!! This was helpful. I have one other question though; are you guys allowed to change specialties once you're in? I ask this because I'm interested in the nurse midwifery program, which everyone says is one of the most competitive. So I'm assuming the flexible switching specialty policy doesn't apply? I guess I'm just freaking out because I want to make sure I'm giving myself the greatest chance of getting into the university as a whole, and if that means picking a less selective specialty and switching in later, then I'll do it (if it's even possible).
