Jobs worked to get through school

Published

While I have been in nursing school I have worked numerous jobs to pay the bills. (Nursing school hasn't been cheap). I have worked in a survey call center, been a CNA, worked at an amusement park, and am currently delivering pizzas. What odd jobs have you worked to get through nursing school?

I've worked as a receptionist while doing my prereq's, but when I finally start clinicals, I'll have to quit. I'm hoping to do work-study while I hammer my way through it, though.

I worked as driver for a local mom and pop pizzeria.

Without their support, I wouldn't have made it thru nursing school.

I worked at a mom and pop gift shop. I basically made my own schedule to work around school....it was really nice.

Worked as a CNA during first five months of LPN school. Hope to work as LPN during RN school.

:lol2: Ha ha, made you look. Actually, I worked as a secretary (HUC, ward clerk, whichever you call it where you're at) in the ICU that I work as a RN in now. I had to work full-time all through school.

I worked evenings and weekends at Pizza Hut. It was hard work because it was a busy location. My last six months I worked as a CNA.

Hey, ya gotta pay the bills.... how funny would it be if the student nurse/stripper ran into one of her former customers as a patient after she graduated??

"Hey, uh, I recognize you. You're Sparkles, right?"

"Uh... no."

Ok, now I'm just being bad, I'll stop now. However we do it to make it through, I salute us!

I give everyone credit for their perseverance and hard work. I will have to quit my job as well - part of my living expenses will come from my 401K - but i will need to work part time and am not really sure how im going to manage rent (i dont have anyone i can move in with like a sister or single friend, unfortunately) Wish me luck as well as i wish you.
