???? why is it fair for your co-workers aloud to come to work cussing,talking about their sex life and not written up or sent home? why is it that someone comes to work talking about god their written up or their sent home is that fair?

You're not offering enough information. My opinion is based on the agenda of the person talking about God. Was the person quietly "talking about God", or preaching trying to save souls to people that didn't want to hear it.

Exactly. A nurse I worked with years ago was threatened with being fired because that is pretty much all she did--- not only was it intrusive for both staff and patients, she wasn't really doing her actual job. She was too busy preaching. She tried to convert patients of other religions, the whole nine yards. She didn't stop with the warning, but quit instead. No great loss, IMO.

the reason why i post this question. is that i want for a job interview. and the person that interview was tell me to stay away from the room that likes to gossip ok. the interview was about to hand me employess hand book, when i told her how i get defensive about sitting in a room where someone is talking about their sex life, or sitting just f-this and f-that etc etc. not once did i say anything about god ok.

plus i told her that when i go on break i usely in up going out to my vehicle because i don't want to hear it, i mean you can't tell that person or people to shut up or how you feel right? so the interviewer took back the employees hand back. i just want you people opinion. did i preach to her no i didn't. maybe my title doesn't match my question.

I still don't quite understand what happened in your interview. Perhaps they didn't like the idea of you going out to your car?

Ok, wait! Let me see if I understand. You went on a job interview? By handing you the handbook, was she offering you a job? How did the interview turn into the interviewer warning you about gossipers? And when she took back the handbook was she also taking back her offer. Not sure I understand.

Ok...I get it.

The interviewer was handing you the handbook because she was about to offer you the job, and was just letting you know that gossip was frowned upon by management.

That was when you VOLUNTARILY offered information about how you "get defensive" with people cursing, talking about their sex life, how you couldn't tell them to shut up, etc. Then you said you couldn't deal with it so you spent your breaks in your car.....which sent a clear signal to the interviewer that you couldn't handle difficult employees or knew how to stay clear of them in-house.

That was information that the interviewer DID NOT want to hear. It was too much information. They call them 'war stories' and they don't like hearing them.

When the interviewer put the employee handbook away....I would bet your job offer was dead in the water.

Never volunteer more information at an interview that does not work to your benefit...they probably assumed you had issues at your last position.

Yeah, I think regardless of god or the "F" word, telling your potential employer that you can't socialize with others and instead spend time hiding out in your car to be a big red flag. In interviews, don't we try to put our BEST food forward? Before you alienate yourself from your potential future co-workers, wouldn't it be good to first see if you can actually find a friend there to spend breaks with?

OK... but how did the whole religion topic come into play with this then? You are not making this part clear.

I agree with many others. If you are just having a very casual conversation about something exciting going on in your church, I'm fine with sharing that.... but I've come across more than one person wanting to shove their religion down my throat. Never understood how they actually thought this would work to convert people.

I heard one woman talk about vibrators once at work, but she is a highly eccentric woman. Other than that, I never hear this sort of talk at work. I think it's gross and I don't want to hear about vibrators, I think they are weird and why would anyone want to admit to using one in public? What's the world coming to, where women discuss vibrators?

Because no one complained about the discussion of sex lives or cursing, and some did complain about "talking about G-d"????????

I also would like more information. Was a patient or coworker asking for information, offering an appropriate opening for a religious discussion? Or did someone start to proselytize, interfering with someone else's peace, and not take "no" for an answer? Or say biased things about other spiritual beliefs, while talking up their own?

Please feel free to tell others that it is not appropriate to curse or talk sex around you. And be respectfully when they say that they are not interested in a religious discussion with you.

I have a feeling that your communication skills might be part of the problem - I still do not have a clear idea what you are talking.

Please disregard my prior post - I did not have the whole story. But I fear I still do not.
