Fashions come and fashions go. In other times and places, not talking about God would get a person in trouble. Of all forces we may choose to confront, it may be most futile to attempt to fight fashion. Of course, if swimming upstream is your hobby, that's another story. But complaining still won't do you any good.

Oh, I have never heard of such a thing! Ofcourse, I work at a Catholic institution and it is encouraged that we pray with our patients. Sorry, can't help.

It is best to be asked about ones belief system after acting according to that belief mode.

I think deep down you may already know why (and it has nothing to do with fairness).

It is certainly not fair, but it is unfortunately the way some value systems work today. I intend to uphold my God and my beliefs, no matter the cost. When faced with a situation such as you, I refer back to Daniel chapter 3. That is all the inspiration I need for not bowing to others.

Probably because no one complains about hearing about peoples sex lives. It's not appropriate however.
Two wrongs don't make a right. Just because someone else is getting away with breaking a policy, doesn't mean you can just walk in and break another policy.
You're not offering enough information. My opinion is based on the agenda of the person talking about God. Was the person quietly "talking about God", or preaching trying to save souls to people that didn't want to hear it.
Written up and sent home sounds extreme, unless verbal warnings have been given. Is it a first offense, or were there warning to not do this at work.
I know Christians feel they are discriminated against, that it's hard to be a Christian, that they are treated unfairly, but nonetheless evalgelizing at work is not appropriate. There are churches on every street corner, Chrsitian stations on the radio, etc. etc. To be a Christian is easy in America. But non-Christians deserve a haven as well, and work should be one of those, unless of course it's a Christian facility. Even when I was a Christian I didn't want to talk religion at work.

Well, I'm turning 50 this year and I'm too old to sit quietly while people are discussing vibrator use and Media movies and sexual exploits. Plus, cussing is unprofessional when you are out in the public eye.
I don't talk about my belief system in public either. We do have private chats about all kinds of things though - politics, religion, Paris Hilton (just kidding on the Paris thing).

I agree. Until people start speaking up and complaining people are going to talk like this.
Sad state of affairs that people complain when God is the topic. But as I said, two wrongs don't make a right.

Tweety: Thanks, you said it much better than I did. I started to write a response, but canceled it as I was having trouble crafting my answer.

I agree with this completely. I have worked places where I have come to my desk to see church flyers, etc. on my desk. I find it offensive...and I am a practicing Catholic.
If someone wants to talk about things they do in Church, etc..people will probably ask, "What church do you go to" if it sounds interesting. But people who are on recruiting efforts for their church and/or religion..I have always found to be offensive....as if I shouldn't be happy with the religion I have chosen.
