Jill Biden, ED.D.

A couple of my friends have been putting Dr. Biden down.  They say her doctorate isn't really worth much, she should not be called "doctor" because she is not an MD, only MD's should be called "doctor", her work to earn the doctorate wasn't really worthy of earning the degree, and the like.

I say she earned it, she can proudly and rightfully call herself "doctor".

What say ye?

 Well since she was the last first lady, how do you write a post about First Ladies, Old Boy... and what they have done.  Let's skip Melania (or she skipped us). The First Ladies Platform is a great place to promote a platform that involves health, the arts, the world school children face, etc. Wouldn't you agree?

It's remarkable that Trump supporters are so fragile that the merest comparison of Dr Biden to her immediate predecessor is mystifying and feels dangerous.

No, the post is about Mrs. Biden and her use of the title "Dr." it's not about First Ladies and what they have and haven't done.  You entitled to go off on any tangent you choose however but that would change the topic.

There is nothing about Beerman's post to indicate that he finds it mystifying and feels dangerous.  He finds it "remarkable" which is odd, but not what you're describing.

But he's right.  90% of the posts here no matter what the topic is about are changed to Trump.   I think this might be fair in some respects, but certainly not this one or many others.  But we just can't help ourselves.

Just like when Trump was elected we had to endure "but Obama....", "but her emails", it's Beerman's lot in life to endure "but Trump...." but don't blame them for pointing it out.

Meh.  You get to interpret his musings however you want.  But you are correct...he's not mystified but he is indoctrinated and he does think that Biden is dangerous because of that indoctrination and limited media consumption. 

Unlike Obama, Trump is a cult leader who is a very relevant threat to our republic.  It would be foolhardy to pretend like Trump and his unamerican lies are unimportant.

I think Trump is old news and him and his supporters will eventually fade into the background since more and more people are voting now. We just need to keep people motivated to vote. Beerman is right, democrats keep bringing him up for no reason. ?. I personally know little about Jill Biden and would rather hear about her.

You are welcome to think that.  

However, as long as Trump keeps conservative voters inflamed, agitated and motivated using lies which undermine confidence in our republic and elections, we are in peril.  Trump is a tyrannt wannabe and he has supporters who will use violence to achieve their goals.

I stand corrected since this is how she likes to be addressed I should have done so.  She made that clear when she was 2nd lady that unlike Dr. Cheney before her that went by Mrs., she wants to stand out from her husband and she's proud of her hard earned accomplishment.

For me personally since I'm not her student I call her Mrs. Biden or First Lady Biden.  But since she wishes to be addressed as Dr. perhaps I should honor that.  But I think "First Lady Biden" is respectful enough.

My best friend is a PhD and does not refer to himself as Doctor M... outside of the classroom (he's actually retired now) so this is where I come from.   He says this is the case with most educators.
