January NCLEX Study Group!

Published

Hi Friends!

I am taking the NCLEX in January. I will graduate from my Accelerated BSN program in mid-December, just before Christmas. This is an 11.5 month ABSN program and is make-your-head-spin-fast!

I am still deciding whether I will take the Hurst Review or the Kaplan Review, but I do have the Saunders 4th Edition NCLEX-RN Comprehensive Review book. It is huge! Honestly, I feel overwhelmed and feel like I do not know where to begin. I will just begin at the beginning! Care to join me on this wild ride?!?! We can encourage one another along the way!:typing

As part of my study program, I want to incorporate exercising at least 20 minutes a day and eating healthier snacks. Grabbing an apple and cheese instead of pepsi and cheetos!:pumpiron:

Let's do this thing!!!!

:yelclap:

wow, congrats. i'm so happy for you.

thanks! I got the PVT pop up so Im feeling good.

Congratulations!!! Did you apply the Kaplan strategies?

yep I used kaplan and I really liked exam cram too. I also used saunders (ehhh) and ncelx 3500

Do you feel that NCLEX 3500 helped? Thats what I used (test is at 8am tomorrow so its too late to do anything about it)

yeah I really liked it. I thought it was better than saunders.

I think that questions and technique was what helped me most, not content review

good luck!!! youll do great :)

Thank you it sounds like you did well! I was getting 75-85% on the nclex 3500 tests so I hope thats good enough. An Ativan at 8pm is what I plan on doing tonight, I don't think I'll sleep otherwise =( I am testing in Boston and will have to leave my house at 6am in order to leave time for traffic.

How was the temp of the testing room and how many forms of ID did you need?

Specializes in critical care, PACU.

one form of ID (I was nervous about that too)

and I wore a light jacket. not too warm at all

yeah I took a codeine haha so we are on the same page ;)

those scores sound like you will do just fine

marcy74,

i am encouraged. i know i can make it too. what is this davis thingie. can u share with me pls. i don't mind having the book for awhile pls.

you made me laugh with all that "thingie", i'm glad you feel encouraged- we all need that every now and then. the book is "davis' nclex-rn success" by sally lagerquist, mcmillin etal great book i tell you, the amount of information can become overwhelming but the questions are spot on, if you know what i mean. all the best for february, try not to extent to march, if you are like me the process will get boring.

Well I took the NCLEX this am. Had 75 questions, mostly SATA, infection control, and prioratization and it only took me 30 minutes or so. Even though I told myself not to do it I tried the PVT and I got the "good" pop-up. So I am going to keep my fingers crossed. They told me at the testing site to check the BON website before paying the quick result fee. So starting tomorrow I will be checking the MA BON!

Wow, that' great. I am so happy for you. O my gosh the tension is mounting mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Just keep believing God and I know it shall be well.
