January NCLEX Study Group!

Published

Hi Friends!

I am taking the NCLEX in January. I will graduate from my accelerated BSN program in mid-December, just before Christmas. This is an 11.5 month ABSN program and is make-your-head-spin-fast!

I am still deciding whether I will take the Hurst Review or the Kaplan Review, but I do have the Saunders 4th Edition NCLEX-RN Comprehensive Review book. It is huge! Honestly, I feel overwhelmed and feel like I do not know where to begin. I will just begin at the beginning! Care to join me on this wild ride?!?! We can encourage one another along the way!:typing

As part of my study program, I want to incorporate exercising at least 20 minutes a day and eating healthier snacks. Grabbing an apple and cheese instead of pepsi and cheetos!:pumpiron:

Let's do this thing!!!!

:yelclap:

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You do not need the book and read the sections but use the CD and practice answering questions especially as you are graduating in Dec so a lot of stuff should be still fresh in your mind. Only review a system if you are struggling to answer the questions

Hi There

I'm with you on this journey. I plan to test Jan also. My story a little different:Graduated 2yrs ago and failed NCLEX-RN on my one and only sitting.

I have Saunders 4th ed for content LaCharity for priority & delegation and plan on a review course sometime in Dec.

Exercise and healthy eating feed body and mind.

All for it. With humility and multitude of prayers we can do this(I believe in heavenly creator)

Hi There!

I am a Christian and believe God answers prayers, even though sometimes the answer is not exactly what we want. Let's study together! We have the same book. Would you like to challenge each other to do a certain number of questions a week?

I don't know...we are going so fast in this program - 11 months!!!! I feel like I have forgotten so much and that I did not have enough time to absorb everything. Tomorrow or Monday I am going to take the Saunders pre-test on the disc and see how I do. It is supposed to prepare a customized study guide for you based on how you do. We are taking the ATI exam in about a month, so I need to start studying! That is one of the requirements to graduate. I am glad though because I will take all of the practice I can for the NCLEX! :yeah:

All right,

I took the pre-test on the disc provided with the Saunders Comprehensive review and scored overall 61%. Not bad for still being in school, being exhausted after a mental health rotation day, only sleeping for 6 hours last night, and not studying ahead of time! No where to go but up! The disc made a customized study guide for me. 6 weeks, so that will help me prepare for ATI which is in 4 -6 weeks. No guarantee I will be able to do this entire book in 6 weeks, but we shall see!!!

I feel really good about having taken the first step forward in studing for the NCLEX!

Anyone want to practice with me via online encouragement?

OK are you going to start with the questions at the end of each chapter? If so, perhaps we could do 2-3 per day that way anything missed can seal it in our minds by going over it @ that time. What do you think? Any suggestions from successful others appreciated also. We will master this!

Best wishes for your test in January. Sounds as if you have a good plan going.

Yes PedsNurze! I did the pretest and have the 6 week customized study guide. I am going to start reading the chapters according to my plan tomorrow - I think I have 3 chapters on Nursing issues or something like that and then I think 8 days on Pharmacology chapters - my biggest weakness.

Let me know how you want to do this! :)

Specializes in L & D, Med-Surge, Dialysis.

Wish you all the best!

Have you been working in the hospital setting the past two years?

I have class Tuesday and Wednesday. Getting my bootie upstairs right now to study for an exam (mental health) and do my Saunders NCLEX chapters!!! So glad we are doing this together!!! :yeah:
