January NCLEX Study Group!

Published

Hi Friends!

I am taking the NCLEX in January. I will graduate from my Accelerated BSN program in mid-December, just before Christmas. This is an 11.5 month ABSN program and is make-your-head-spin-fast!

I am still deciding whether I will take the Hurst Review or the Kaplan Review, but I do have the Saunders 4th Edition NCLEX-RN Comprehensive Review book. It is huge! Honestly, I feel overwhelmed and feel like I do not know where to begin. I will just begin at the beginning! Care to join me on this wild ride?!?! We can encourage one another along the way!:typing

As part of my study program, I want to incorporate exercising at least 20 minutes a day and eating healthier snacks. Grabbing an apple and cheese instead of pepsi and cheetos!:pumpiron:

Let's do this thing!!!!

:yelclap:

Im doing at least 250 a day for the last two weeks before the exam. Im also doing content review too. Some days I get up to 400+. Its like once you go above you want to keep exceeding your goals ya know?

I probably spend about 6-8 hours studying each day with lots and lots and lots of breaks

Im a big overstudier. It helps to decrease my test anxiety ;)

Finally decided to register and there are no dates avail. except early morning not my cup of tea. I have a few months what do you guys think I should do? Just curious if you were I.

i had the same problem; not just that i'm not a morning person but also the test center is an hour drive from my home then i'd have to take the underground, which means i'd have to leave home extra early. what i did was, i selected the date that i felt comfortable with and just went for it. however, if you do have alot of time then i'd advise you to choose your date less you loose out on it again. once you are ready pedsnurze, don't delay just go for it, do it while the info is hot.

just thought i'd share that, i did the exam yesterday, got 75q, found my name on the bon site; i'm really thankful to you all on this site, the support and general info was amazing. however, just thought that i would also share that "davis' nclex rn success" is the best kept secret - trust me, i'm almost sure that some of the questions were taken from that book. god has been good, i just can't praise him enough for this success. i failed on my first take in 09/08 and was so crushed, it took me this long to regroup and go at it again. i'm truly happy i did.

i don't believe i'm special, so what i'm saying is; if i can do it, so can everyone else, because i classify myself as an average student. in my final preparation test i got 53%, but i was not discouraged, i told myself, i'm happy that now is the time i got it and not on the actual exam, so i read my rationales and lay it to rest. guys, there is no question as to if we can do it, it's just a matter of when. i went in the exam prepared to go all the way 265q like i did the first time but it wasn't to be. please think positive, we can be our worst enemy. best wishes to all of you. i'll continue to pray.

thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pedsnurse wow you are a true inspiration! I am taking the nclex for the 3rd time on Wednesday 1/20/10. I felt crushed when i failed but i realize that me as a person was not ready to become a RN. With all of lifes challenges, we can overcome and become that RN that we aspire to be. I had the same problem when i first looked at the testing times that they were too early Marcy74. I did not schedule the test and now when i decided that i was ready to schedule the test there were no more dates available in my town. So i had to pick the next town which is like 30 min away but guess what i had 4 times that i could pick from, so maybe the testing center that you are trying to go to is not the one that God wants you to test at. I believe this because when i looked at first all the dates of the month were available they were just all at 8 in the morning so i didn't register but when i went back within 2 weeks none was available. Sometimes God moves in ways you could not imagine. Just pray about it and go with your heart. God will give you the desires of your heart but you have to be ready for the changes that comes with that. Thank all of you ladies and gents that are on here pouring your hearts out. This test is difficult and we all need the support! Thanks again guys
