Hi Friends!
I am taking the NCLEX in January. I will graduate from my Accelerated BSN program in mid-December, just before Christmas. This is an 11.5 month ABSN program and is make-your-head-spin-fast!
I am still deciding whether I will take the Hurst Review or the Kaplan Review, but I do have the Saunders 4th Edition NCLEX-RN Comprehensive Review book. It is huge! Honestly, I feel overwhelmed and feel like I do not know where to begin. I will just begin at the beginning! Care to join me on this wild ride?!?! We can encourage one another along the way!:typing
As part of my study program, I want to incorporate exercising at least 20 minutes a day and eating healthier snacks. Grabbing an apple and cheese instead of pepsi and cheetos!:pumpiron:
Let's do this thing!!!!
:yelclap:
HI! im planning to take my exam but dont have schedule yet.I feel so frustrated,I took nclex-rn exam twice already and failed. My husband was so affected, very disappointed and told me i cant make it on my 3rd try.It hurts me a lot coz he is pulling me down instead of encouraging me.I dont know what to do.Dont have the courage to study again.I feel so helpless.
Roze,
Please do not give up! You feel down right now. Do this for yourself. Sometimes people are cruel:cry: even when they do not mean to be. Turn every negative into something positive. Our Goal : RN licensure
When: Gods time and Ours
This can and will be done!
Hello Everyone,
I have been doing alternate format questions and on the anaylsis and application ones they are always wrong.
Reason: either I select 1 item that does not belong or I don't include all items that do belong.
Am I ready to resit for NCLEX this January?
Oh yeah, I seem to have forgotten basic dimensial anaylsis for drug calculations nor can I find my book.
Help???? What do you think?
Ok that is great news that you passed! So you just used the Saunders book and the CD? I have Saunders comprehensive 4th ed it gave me the customized study chart from the cd exam.... Is that what you used to study by? Just asking questions because I am a third timer too and I have to take it by 1/21/2010. I haven't scheduled it yet cause i know i am not ready but i have to be before this date comes. Let me know if you have some tips thanks!

Who passed?
hi everyone!
im taking my NCLEXRN this january too!
i am a foreign student from the PHILIPPINES and graduated last MARCH09.
i haven't taken my local board back in my country coz i had to go back in the US.. so i really don't know how it's like taking comprehensive exams!!!
been out from school for almost 9 months now, i say i'm still familiar with the nursing topics but can't master it. some forgotten some retained.
i started doing self review of FUNDAMENTALS n MEDSURG (planning to read d whole book to REFRESH my mind) but stopped. it was hard not knowing when my exam date is. pressure sometimes helps!
so, i decided to apply and got my eligibility.
TOO MUCH of something is bad ---- sometimes it's true.
so i stopped reading textbooks, instead, i did MOSBY's nclex review
review systems that i think im not so familiar with.
and just this december i enrolled in KAPLAN program,..
which includes basic and coursebook, qbanks and qtrainer.
right now im reading the basics book (which i find really good coz its like a lil bit of everythng in it).
im also doing questions evryday. i take notes of the rationales.
im wishing to read saunders too but im thinking twice if i should add it up now or finish with kaplan or even half of the course first?
im also studying MNEMONICS of nursing. it really helps alot.
i am so hoping to pass this january.
REMEMBER guys, GIVING up is not an option,.
THINk to always do your best, coz if not now, then when?
we will only keep going back from the start... NOBODY CAN HELP US EXCEPT OURSELVES. and of course GOD
and pray... pray,, pray,,
GOOD luck to us!

I am just a Graduate Nurse getting ready to take my RN Boards in January; my math calculations might be a little rusty because I have been out of school for about 3 years, but this is the way I see to do this:
Use this formula:
Formula #1
Desired Dose X Volume on Hand = ___ml to be given
Concentration
4g X 1000 ml
40g
=4000ml
40g
= 100ml to be given
THEN, use:
VOLUME = ___ml/ hr
(MINUTES / 60)
100ml =
(30/60)
100ml X 60
30
= 200ml (would infuse 4g MgSO4 in 30 minutes time).
Experienced Nurses: Please correct me if this answer is wrong
Hi Flory, I got the same answer 200ml/hr... it looks right to me.. I am studying for the NCLEX Exam as well I finished my program on Dec 7 2009. So we are in this togehter... May someone else can check for accuracy as well.
4g/40g X 1000 ml = 100ml
100ml x 60min
------ -----
30min 1Hr
= 200 ml/hr....
