Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.
We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?
Don't be shy. Don't lurk. Share your thoughts.
Are you sure? I was told a different story...I was told once you register at a campus that is the campus you will spend your remaining time in the program. If you do so you will be drop and eventually dismissed from the program. I don't know what to believe. Did the Dean tell you this? Harder in what way?[/quote']That's what everyone is told. Only in extenuating circumstances can you switch campuses. Even retrackers have to remain in their campus.
@Getting to Great I heard it from the horses mouth "Dean S." that if we complete our success plan & processing 1 we could switch to another campus. As the previous poster said, Yes you can!! It doesn't have to be extenuating circumstances at all. The only thing is we have pharmacology for a full semester at south. Also seats will have to be available at the other campuses as well. Like I said I heard it first from Dean S. When you go to see her she will tell you for herself, or just ask. She was nice, but I could tell she don't play. :angrybird1:lol.

Well I'm going by what DR. S said. She said it would be hard because you would have to complete pharm at south still. The success plan is only for 8 weeks

It would be hard because you would be taking process 2 at one campus and pharm at south. She said eventually for the next semesters to come all 3 campuses will have a success plan depending on how this one turns out.
I was going over the Immunization verification form with my doctor and she advised me to sign off on declining the hepatitis B vaccination because my medical records show I took all three Hepatitis B shots in 1993. Since on the immunization form it gives us that option to decline it does anyone know if I DO decline the shot will it affect me continuing on being admitted to the nursing program. Hopefully some one thats already started the program can help me. Thanks

DO NOT decline. Bring them your titers that show your immunity. They'll accept it. If you decline they will assume that you are refusing it. Go to Ms. K in the nursing dept and show her. :)

Okay so I email the executive assistant of the central campus my same question and she just answered me back I CAN decline the hepatitis shot. I'm going to make sure to print this email and have it as evidence with my papers. I'm not against taking the shots but these fees are adding up and If i can avoid unnecessarily paying for something I don't need because I know I am protected because I took all three shots in 1993 ill do it. I don't have health insurance for this year so everything is coming out of pocket . So anyone going through my same situation here's the answer !

Either way you're okay. you can decline Or accept to take it. it doesn't matter it's your decision at the end of the day the hep vaccine isn't mandatory yet.. positive titers or not . I declined because my titers showed immunity. Just like you. :)
Good Mornting..... in my Madea
How's it going guys?
Well....I'm considering buying the orientation packet on Monday. Just to get a glimpse of what to expect. I saw it in the bookstore last week. I really don't care:cautious: if it's an old one. I can always buy a new one.
I also put in my resignation letter at my job. I would need to reapply to come back after a few semesters. I want to work pier diem as a PCA, or after a year into the program I would consider being a nurse tech.
I wonder how many chapters we would have to read before the first day. If it's more than 100 pages I'm changing my resignation date. I'm really considering doing it now that I think about it. Due to the fact that I want to brush up on some stuff like conversions. Dean "GB" from north campus has some good tools on her website. When are some of you guys resigning? How many of you will still work?
I'm like a ball of emotions right now.
:)
I'm so happy that I made it, I worked really hard
. I just love Emoji's.
