January 2014 Broward College

Published

Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.

We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?

Don't be shy. Don't lurk. Share your thoughts.

@candy there really isn't a big difference between 2ed & 3ed. I had both. I used the 3ed because the only difference was the pictures in the anatomy section. Other than that, it's the same book. As a matter if fact I just sold mine today through amazon for $27 2nd Ed. Your getting a great deal.

Met with the dean of south campus yesterday. She's actually very nice. I was so intimidated at first. No worries on this end. :)

Did she say anything about the program? Like uniforms, books..

Not really just talked about what the success plan is. ( the success plan is only for the first 8 weeks after you pass process 1 you're good) She did mention orientation for p1 being jan. 6 which I believe there was an email sent.

Does this mean that we can choose our campus after process 1 or are we stuck at south?

You might be stuck at South. There are only a certain amount of seats available per campus and those that start at Central will remain at Central just like the other campuses.

Sorry to say...but your stuck. In my opinion this is their tricky way of balancing out each campus with students. They had to create an action plan to have student apply to south campus because their census were low in previous times compared to other campuses (regarding the nursing program).

Everything happens for a reason so please don't fret. I had to tell myself that...we'll be okay.

Can someone tell me where they got there PPD done at, and how much was it? As well as tetorifice shot. Employee health is giving me a hard time at my job. They don't want to do third party physicals. My PCP does not have tetorifice shots nor PPD. I called 365 they told me they did not have the PPD available, but I was more than welcomed to get a chest X-RAY not..........40.00

Yea my doc did a chest X-ray because he didn't have the ppd. As far as the tetorifice shot goes i went to walgreens and my insurance covered it 100%. You can also try CVS.

I believe the tetorifice shot was was about 40.00 plus a 15.00 charge for something else I could be wrong I honestly just glanced at the receipt cause my insurance covered it anyway. But there is this place on miramar pkwy where I got my titers done and they charge 65.00. I think it's called ( occupational health centers).

Yes you can!! But she doesn't recommend it because you would still have to come to south for pharmacology. So yes you can change campuses but it will be harder.
