January 2014 Broward College

Published

Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.

We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?

Don't be shy. Don't lurk. Share your thoughts.

Lisitax Thank you so much for your reply! To clarify- I physically handed my sealed transcripts to the registrar's office last Friday. After I saw my status (denied-pending transcript eval.) I called the health admissions office at the north campus and the lady I spoke to said there was a request for them to be evaluated. However, it's been 2 days and nothing has changed so I went to the advising office hoping to get some help and I won't be able to speak with an advisor until Monday dde31 the man I spoke to said nothing can progress until I meet with an advisor and get the transcripts evaluated. I'm getting different information from everyone I speak to at BC and I'm so stressed out. Everyone has registered and I'm still waiting to be accepted.[/quote']

Hello Kerry, I don't know exactly what's occurring but from my understanding the preadmission session already occurred. Usually that means the seats have been filled. Call or even better, go in person and ask the advisors. Admission period is open ended until seats fill. Hope things work out. :)

Don't stress out! I actually applied on Monday and got preadmission the same day. They're going to be having another preadmission meeting Friday, November 8th so you still have time! I spoke with an advisor regarding the fact that pretty much everyone has been registering for classes already, and she told me not to go by what is on the web site because those are only the seats that were opened up for the students who attended the 1st meeting.

Thank you so much! What a relief!! I can enjoy my weekend now :)

Hi guys, I'm new here & will be attending central campus. :) I had a few questions about the CEU's.. I know a few of you mentioned that you can get the certificates online at ceufast and cebroker, but I've noticed that the TB/Hep/OSHA is broken down into the three separate things. OSHA is only 1 hour when it should be two. I talked to health admissions at central and asked if it would be ok and they said no. Has anyone found it offered anywhere besides BC that has it for 2 hours? Also has anyone taken them on these websites to know if they are legit?

One more question regarding the CPR... I'm taking it outside of BC on the 31st and will receive a BLS AHA card. Is this the correct thing I need?

Thanks so much, Seraphina

I got my OSHA or "infection control and precaution from biologix solutions trough cebroker.com. It shows as 3 hrs on my cert and the nursing dept took it. Yes that's the correct card. You have to keep searching on cebroker because they are broken up into separate classes but they have the correct hours. Just keep searching. :)
