Ivy Tech Thread

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

I have seen one post on here in recent days from tlofflan saying that they received a letter informing them that they were picked for an alternate spot for LPN in Bloomington. But that is the only person on this site that has posted any info of that sort recently. Which campus are you waiting for?

Good luck to you.:anpom:

Hey-

I applied to Lawrence Campus. I've wanted to be a nurse since my first daughter was born (1997) and have had 2 more kids since then- They are in 6th, 4th and 1st grades now. I already have a science ed degree and finished my pre-reqs this summer. After reading the other posts, I feel pretty hopeful- I have straight A's and a 92 on my TEAS......

Good Luck to you too!!!:wink2:

Hopefully we will be in clinicals together come January! What are you taking right now? I'm taking ANP 201 and ENG 112 (trying to keep it light) and then I'll be done with all of my prereqs and will only have nursing classes left. I'm feeling pretty hopeful, too...I just need that letter!!!!

Well, after reading months worth of posts here, I decided to create a log in to this site today. Much of what I've read has been both informative and depressing at the same time.

I'm a male who's 36 with a wife and 3 kids. I'm like a lot of guys who have recently decided to pursue nursing as a new career. My background is in business, making the transition for me over to nursing a bit more difficult. My wife has been an RN for 12 years now, and has helped me along the way with questions I've had.

I scored 197 and applied to Ivy Tech Lawrence for Spring '09. I'm certain I won't be selected to the ASN track, so I'm just hoping that my score will at least get me into the LPN program, and I'll attempt to transition over to the RN track later.

ANP 101 & 102 = A's

PSY 101 = A

ENG 111 = B

Region = 3

TEAS = 84

------

197

Not sure what the cut off will be this time around, my guess around 204. If I don't make the LPN track, I'll re-do ENG111 for an A, and/or apply to more than one campus. I know the Lawrence campus can be more difficult to get into based on several factors, but does anyone out there have any incling as to whether or not a 197 "could" get me into the LPN track there?

You should have no problem at all getting into the LPN program. I know several people accepted to the LPN program that had C's and low 80s on the TEAS. Good luck!!

I have two questions :)

1. Could I ask when your disbursement date was? I just want to get an idea of when I will get mine this semester...I know they cut checks Monday for the grant overages. I only worry because I have 900 (going on 1300) dollars in child support sitting SOMEWHERE and can't touch it because Texas never sent Indiana the support order! I am pretty broke!

2. How do you like 201? That is what I was planning on taking in the Fall of 09 and they suggested it. Is it pretty interesting?

Hey nn-

Do they SEND out the letters on the 30th, or are we supposed to receive them on the 30th? Do you know if letters are sometimes sent out before the deadline?

Hi SpecialK,

I am also waiting for my letter to arrive. I applied to Fort Wayne, and in one of the "school of nursing" documents I've read recently, it stated that the target date for letters to be sent out is Sept. 30th. I took that to mean they will be sent out when they "darn well feel like it" around the 30th. I know someone who got theirs on October 3rd, and another who had to wait until the 14th. (if that happens to me, someone will have to peel me off the ceiling)

I'm not sure, but I think all campuses are the same for their target date.

6 days!!!!!!!!!!! Yippppeeeeeeeeeeeeee:[anb]:

I have yet to take micro but i am not looking forward to it:no:. I have these butterflies in my stomach just waiting for the letters. I never thought I would be so nervous.:anbd:

Not that it's any consolation, but I have learned that just not worrying about getting your letter makes it a lot easier. I know it's easier said than done, though. I applied for this fall and stressed over getting my letter, then was hugely disappointed when I didn't get in. So, when I applied for the spring, I turned in my applications and didn't think about it again til I got my letter and got accepted as an alternate, which is pretty good from what I'm hearing. Now, I just have to wait to see if someone doesn't accept and I get their spot. Part of me feels like this is more stressful than waiting for my letter, because it's still up in the air. Know what I mean?:wtosts:

tlofflan,

You are so close! Don't give up....somebody around here quoted a line recently from Finding Nemo "just keep swimming!"

:wshgrt:

I have heard of people giving up their spot for one reason or another, it is possible.

Best wishes:wink2:

Hey Sah-

I have all my co-rereqs taken care of except one psych course. In anticipation of hitting it hard in the Spring, I took this semester off. I took A & P 101 and Psych 101 last spring (already had taken psych like 20 years ago, but got a "C") and then A & P 102 on campus this summer and Eng 111 (online- also "C" forever ago, but knew I needed to pull it up). I got burned out after the summer so am taking it easy this semester. I think I'll take that last psych class online next summer in-between semesters if I get in.......

ttfn....:typing

I e-mailed the nursing director yesterday and asked her if she could tell me what # alternate I am on the list. She said that I'm number 5, but that a few people have declined their seats, so I'm quickly moving up. She also said she's going to check the list after the acceptance date of Oct. 3 and then will be contacting alternates. Wish me luck!!!
