I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

Lennonnija,

Congrats on your RN acceptance. You've earned the summer off.:yeah: Enjoy your time. Keep us posted. Oh, by the way, which program did you get into?

Thanks! I was accepted to Bloomington and Indy, but I'll be going to Bloomington :)

I am taking ENG 112 online and Personal Finance (the 1cr. hour course). I am also studying my TEAS book bc I scored low on the math. I have one more pre-requisite to take and that would be either the Chemistry or Adv. Physiology. I am really concerned about passing the TEAS test. I don't know if I should try and take Algebra in the fall with Adv. Physiology or not. It seems there was a lot of Algebra on the test and even though I got an A in MAT118 I am still struggling. Hope you all have a great summer, study and never give up!!!!!

Dave :)

Hi all... Maybe this info is somewhere in here and I'm just missing it, but here's my question: What do you do if you don't get accepted into the RN program? I'm from South Bend, and they admit 50 people per year, in the fall only. It seems really competitive!

I already have an IU degree (BA), and I'm looking for a career change. The only Ivy classes I need to take are ANP 101-102, and I'll have to take one of the other science courses (I already have Chem). I'm starting the ANP courses in August, and since I won't have anything to do in the spring, I'll probably retake the English and Math prereqs since I had Bs at IUSB.

I am just so nervous! I know I'm a good student, and I can get As in these classes, but what do I do if I don't get into the RN program? Do I have other options? I'd really appreciate any feedback. This board seems like a great support net, and I'll definitely be cheering everyone on this semester!

Your math grade won't count for points for nursing school admission. You might want to check to see if what math you took for your former degree will transfer though. It probably will but you should make sure. If you got a B in English Comp/Freshman Comp, it wouldn't hurt to retake that since it does count for admission scores. Only 4 grades count in your points for admission: A&P 1, A&P 2, English Comp, and Psych 101.

If South Bend only starts in the fall, then if I were you I wouldn't take both A&P 1 and 2 this fall. You have time to take A&P 1 this fall and then A&P 2 in the spring and would still be able to apply for fall admission. I'd never take a shortened A&P (i.e. both of them in the same semester, one after the other) if I didn't absolutely have to. You have time to take both of them as full-semester classes.

If S. Bend has an LPN program, you can apply to it at the same time as a backup in case you don't get into the RN, and then do the LPN-RN transition later.

Thanks! I'm going to be meeting with an advisor soon to get all this figured out. I took college algebra and trigonometry for my BA, so I don't think I should have a problem there. I had a B+ in Psych, but I would definitely rather retake that than math! I really appreciate your advice about ANP. I heard it's intense.

Yep I'd retake Psych then too. Ivy Tech only goes by A, B, C, etc., no plusses or minuses, so I think a B+ would count as a B for points purposes, but I'm not sure about that. Be sure to ask about that. Your college algebra and trig should definitely be good enough to transfer for the nursing program's math requirement so I would not bother to retake that.

Ok...has anyone taken 101 through Columbus and can you recommend a prof to me? (PM me) Lawrence is filled up and it looks like Columbus is my only opportunity for a face to face otherwise I am stuck taking it online. I wanna get rid of this B!

I don't know, but if you check every day, you will probably be able to snag a spot in a Lawrence class. As the start of the fall term gets closer, people will start dropping. But, the open spots will only last a couple hours!

was wondering if anyone was willing to share what kind of points they had to get into the rn or lpn in bloomington??

I am a little less than excited. I thought I was accepting a position that was a full time one into the RN program. I was informed today that it takes 6 semesters and is only part time! This changes everything! I was told nothing about a part time program during any of my 6 info sesions I have been to, throughout the state. I was not told about it in the 15 page list of instructions sent when I got into the program. I wonder how many others don't know about this and will decline once they find out.

Do you know anything about the schedule? I will likely need to work now, while in school, since it is taking so much longer. Any ideas?

Phillip
