  1. i have taken english 111 and 112. english 111 is where i learned apa and mla formats. i was expected to already know and utilize these formats when i was in eng 112. english 112 was to show us how to persuade our audience with evidence, explore arguments and things of that nature. if it has been a while, i would suggest taking 111 to freshen up. also if you are applying to ivy tech nursing, remember that your grade for english 111 determines the points you will recieve towards your total score (a=30 b=20 c=10) so, if you are transferring over anything less than an a, i would consider taking 111.
  2. sorry, i should have been more specific. i was referring to gary ivy tech. i finally received my letter. thanks for the reply.
  3. hey, i can totally understand your fear. but all you can do is try. you are always going to run the risk of not getting in and believe me the wait for an acceptance letter from gary is torture but you know that you can apply to both programs (lpn and rn) at the same time. go to the next info session and they will definitely help you. you are not alone. i have some friends who are still having issues passing the teas test , so just take one thing at a time. talk to your advisor and they can assist you in coming up with a plan so you feel as if you are working towards your goal instead of just feeling like you will be in school forever.good luck!!
  4. Well that's great news. Congrats! I also received my letter to start in Jan at Valpo but I was hoping to get one from Gary. I am juggling the idea of going to Valpo but I am not as familiar with that campus as I am in Gary. Have you heard any comments about their program? Who know you may see me in November at the meeting
  5. I applied for Gary Spring 09 ASN. I was under the assumption that Gary would be like everyone else and strive to have acceptance letters sent out around Sept 30. When I called I was told that they would be sent out "sometime" in NOVEMBER!!! Does anyone have an idea why? I am just so confused
  6. for me, at the gary campus, anp 102 a little different from 101 but only because that is the way our instructor had it set up. 101 had majority paper tests with a couple oral tests, you know bones and stuff. but 102 was mostly oral because you start learning more about body systems. i had a professor who was super-tough but that is the best way to learn. he made me study hard because i knew he was not playing around .
  7. The good news is that it gets easier once you're actually in the nursing program. My stress level is much lower than it was during pre-reqs and I don't have to spend near as much time with my nose in a book. I've actually got time to spend with my kids now! Wow, that is great. You give me something to look forward to !
  8. I took ANP at the Gary campus and we dissected a cow's heart, kidney, and explored a pair of lungs. At first, I was grossed out but the take away that you receive from doing that is far better than not. I now look forward to working on cadavers if I have the opportunity . I do not know if I could order a pig to my house. :sofahider I would not suggest to take this class online, I feel that you would be cheating yourself.
  9. OMG!!!! I can not believe they took so long. Thanks for the heads up. I really want to get into Gary but I will be grateful just to get in. I am just waiting for the financial aid refund to occupy my time while i am waiting. Thanks for all the great advice.
  10. I applied to Valpo and Gary for RN programs. Now that I look back, I should have applied to LPN also.:thnkg: Thanks for the good luck wishes. I can't wait for those letters.:luvnltr:
  11. tlofflan: Can u post from which schools you have received the letters from. I don't mean to pester you but I am so anxiously waiting. And congrats to you!:ancong!:
  12. OK, I do not have an answer to your question but I was wondering when did you find out that you were going to be an alternate? We are all patiently awaiting our letters of acceptance, so I am dying to know.
