I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?
I gave up my spot in the fall program and have reapplied for the spring. I still have cold feet. My question of you all is this; do any of you know the placement rate of the Indianapolis nursing program? Do they actually actively help you get a job.I know there is a nationwide nursing shortage, but in reading on allnurses, I find that regionally it can be tough to get a job, especially right out of school. Anyone know how the central Indiana market is? I am also male, so that might figure into the big picture too. Thanks.
You will have no problem finding a job here. I am in the Indy RN program (first semester) and I absolutely love it. The instructors are awesome and so are the students in my section. It is a lot of work and commitment but it's so worth it.
I don't have the information in front of me, but from what the instructors have said, there is 100% pass rate on NCLEX. I believe in the handbook it says they have like an 85% placement rate within a few months after graduation. Taking into account that some people won't go to work immediately after graduation, I think that's pretty good. There are so many different things you can do with a nursing degree. The sky is the limit!
ilovemywife, your user name is sweet! i'm in fort wayne so i can't answer your question.
nursenessa, micro isn't hard, i just don't care for it, maybe you will love learning about microbes and how to stain them! oh, and......drumrolllllllllllll
11 days until the letters (are supposed) go out.....
I'm not liking Micro either, mainly because of the instructor. She is also very unorgnanized and that alone drives me crazy. But, she is also contradictory all the time and always unprepared. For example, she goes off on a fellow student when they ask a question about something saying she should have read the text yada, yada then goes off on a tangent about how we are in college now and should be responsible and should not have to hold our hands held blah, blah, blah then she asks to borrow my neighbors textbook because she has forgotten to bring hers. There are so many other things I could go on and on. I just really can't wait for this class to be over.
On the bright side I am loving my nursing instructor. She is so laid back and down to earth. She makes things easy to understand and is very considerate of time and other commitments. We will have her for all of our classes for the next two years so I am so glad that I like her so well.
I got a 100 on my second pharm test! yay! and that is after having surgery two days before. The surgery went well and I'm recovering nicely. Vicodin is my friend LOL!
Good luck to all of you who are waiting for letters. I hope you all get in!
I was worried about taking micro and starting the nursing program at the same time but you seem to be handling it well. Would you suggest waiting until summer or will I be fine?:thnkg:

Hi Nessa,
My nursing classes are part time so it's hard for me to guage how hard it would be on a regular schedule. This first semester I'm only taking fundamentals, fund. lab, pharm. We are taking it in 15 weeks instead of the regular 8. Plus I don't have NRSG 102,103, & 105 to contend with either this semester. I think I personally would wait for the summer, but It probably could be done. Although one might be bald at the end.
