I was wondering if there would be interest in starting an Ivy Tech thread for those not in any program yet, for those still working on Pre-reqs.
I am taking anp102 in the fall in BLoomington, Tech writing online, plan on taking my Teas sometime soon. Going to apply to several campuses for the ASN program.
They have added Intro to Chem and changed the Math pre-reqs now for Ivy Tech ASN as of Fall 08. They are going to grandfather Math 111 for a few semesters supposedly.

I'm starting to have Very Serious Doubts about Ivy Tech. It seems every department I've been in contact with has dropped the ball in one way or another, whether its not being aware of their own policies or "losing" paperwork on their desks; starting to look like "Come back in a week, we'll have it done by then" is the school motto.
I've scheduled a campus visit and a chat with an admissions counselor at another school for later this week, just in case.
Myschel--email Donna Oklak about your transcript issues. I was given her name by the nursing co-chair. I emailed her yesterday and got a response within a couple hours. She said she emailed the guy up in Muncie to tell him to send my transcripts down to her. [email protected]
Hi there and welcome! I too hope to have all the pre and co-reqs done before I would start nursing school next Jan.
Can anyone tell me what Micro really is about? I know the nursing dept. 'recommends' taking Advanced Physio. 201 and Micro. I'm definitely taking Chem as one and wonder which of the other two I should take. Of course if I end up going for a bachelor's I'd have to take all of them anyway.
Welcome new member!! :nuke:
I am applying for the Fall 09 program. I have been trying to get all of my pre-reqs done before the program start b/c I want to get those out of way also.
I will take the last 2 classes over summer. If I get in, I will only have the nursing courses.
CSAB: Micro vs. Advanced Physiology
I chose Micro over Adv Physio. Every person that I have talked to that took Ad Physio has told me how extremely difficult that class is. I chose Micro in Greencastle.....pretty good. not too difficult at all.
BSN: i am not sure, but I've been told by 2 people that you can finish your BSN at ISU...entirely online! someone said you have to take classes like history (stuff like that). can't verify that. only been told.
I took Micro last semester and *loved* it. I think it makes you aware of so much stuff that will be useful in nursing that it should be required. I'm in Advanced Physio this semester and it's pretty tough so far. I'm taking it though to lessen the chances that I'll have to take another A&P class when I go on for my BSN later.
I'm turningi n my application next week for Fall 09, and at the end of this semester I'll have all of my co-reqs done except for the IVY1XX class. I figure I can take that during the program and still be okay.

Just make sure you get copies of 'official' transcripts, which I found out today are NOT the same things as 'unofficial' transcripts (which I have in my possession). I guess you can request copies of the official transcripts from the registrar even though they technically haven't been evaluated for transfer credit yet.
I also found out that an A- coming from another school will count as an A for points purposes. Which is good for me since I got an A- in English comp. from my first college.
